England v New Zealand (SUPER OVER? BOUNDARY COUNTBACK?) at Abu Dhabi, 11-10 Wednesday (N), Semi-final #1

I think Malan in particular they wanted to keep him away from. Mind you, they bowled a part timer in Phillips instead and that didn't work
Yes it was obviously the 2 left handers but I'd have thought it was Mo more than Malan.

I think England must have put Mo in at 4 to target Santner. Maybe it worked to a degree for England in that it stopped Santner bowling again in the innings which wasn't a bad thing given his low rpo- even if the Malan and Mo partnership had it's luck and limitations.

Decent score but far from unchaseable given dew and England's lack of death bowling.

Start of New Zealand's innings is huge, if they keep wickets in hand they stand a great chance of piling up runs down the stretch.

Agreed. Moeen strikes much faster against spin generally than pace, think he was sent in because Sodhi and Santner were starting to choke things.

If so, very intelligent and clearly worked

Sort of expected England to get around 160 to begin with, think it would have been a bonus to keep them under that, so happy enough wit that score. Looks like a good pitch and signs of dew with Phillips slipping there. This should be an exciting chase! Why are the NZ posters here so emo today? lol
Don’t know that it’s that great for batting, looks like you need minutes in the middle before you find your timing, though the dew could be a factor. Think this will test NZ’s middle order even though England fans will probably say the same for their bowling.
