Surely propensity should take into account a regular flow? How are England ranking ahead of India in producing middle order bats?
From the top of my head:

Hammond
Compton
May
Dexter
Cowdrey
Thorpe
Barrington
Root
Gower
KP
Robin Smith
Hendren
Etc.

Just a longer body of work imo. India likely to continue closing the gap however.

What's really messed up is that apart from openers, Australia arguably has the best player in each category:

Middle order : duh
Spinners: duh
Fast bowler: McGrath
AR: Miller
WK: Healy, Marsh, Grout, Tallon (?)
Fielder: too numerous to mention

Windies middle order is as good as Australia's while I'd probably put Marshall ahead of McGrath and definitely put Sobers ahead of Miller. South Africa might have the best fielders with Bland and Jonty.

wtf is this post? Where are the NZ suggestions? How bout we say Bond > McGrath. Cairns > Miller. Chris Harris greatest fielder. Stephen Fleming greatest slipper. Gareth Hopkins best keeper.

I meant the best middle order batsman is Don Bradman.

Best opener: England (Hobbs)
Best middle order batsman: Aus (Bradman)
Best allrounder: West Indies (Sobers)
Best keeper: England (Knott)
Best fast bowler: West Indies (Marshall)
Best spinner: Sri Lanka (Murali)
Best captain????

Hadlee probably better than McGrath

Hopkins was nicknamed Dropkins in NZ, so surely you could do better than that.

Aside from Bradman and England having the best openers, everything else is debatable...

I agree with The JediBrah's reaction. Really?

Surely Hammond ranks a mention as an all-rounder (Batting @ 58.4 & Bowling @ 37,8) . I'd throw in Dexter (47.9 & 34.9), Rhodes (30.3 & 26.9) and even Tate (25.9 & 26.1) for consideration.

seems to be looking at quality in a handful rather than the ability to produce depth. Take the top 3 away (Warne, O'Reilly, Grimmett) and who is left? I prefer the depth of India and even England.

What stops NZ men from producing more people? Do you spend more time in watching ****** pictures than actual *** ?
Could say something about sheep but that would be in poor taste

anyway NZ is perfect the way it is. Easily one of, if not the best place to live on the planet. Doesn't need any more people crowding it.

Well, WG Grace test debut was 32 years old in 1880. That’s like being 50 on debut now with the progression of nutrition and recovery. That’s looking like the only reason he didn’t bowl more and better in tests,
so he can put him there logically if he wants

No one was questioning whether he was statistically an all rounder
