***Official*** 4th Test @ The Oval, London - 2nd-6th September

White Ball

State 12th Man
Great performance loved the bowling from Bumrah and looking at the weather in Old Trafford that is probably the series

with woakes back and in great touch, which one of robinson or anderson will be rested next test?
Should be as it starts in four days time, but it's not an easy call. Rest Anderson at his home ground, or rest Robinson who's been our best bowler all summer?

Bumrah is incredible.
Yeah special.

I do hope India manage his workload well as he is important in all formats, but to be fair they seem on top of that looking at the last few years of him. It helps they can get away with resting him in tests at home worst case scenario.

Mahmood and Wood next test for Anderson and Overton?

Given who our alternatives are samey-ness is the lesser of two evils imo
Another reason we miss Stokes, who although another right arm fast medium on paper can mix it up with long spells of aggressive Wagnerball stuff when there's no lateral movement.

Dunno. Reckon Wood's extra pace might've be more effective than COverton's floaty mediums.

Not 100% convinced Root fancies him all that much either, judging by the overs he was entrusted with compared to his seam up confreres.

Norwood's on Fire
I'd forgotten Moores. Did he do the job twice, or is that my imagination? At least he had enjoyed considerable success at county level.
Yeah we brought him back post-KP, as if that was the only reason the first Moores era was a failure

Which is something of a disadvantage for a 4th seamer who's supposed to offer a containing role when the ball's not doing a lot.

Anyway, the state of his elbow might keep him out of the final test, which makes selection even trickier.

Yeah fair enough, he could easily have done better than Overton did in this test. Think I just react against meh bowlers suddenly getting talked up because of their extra pace of principle

Not just with extra pace really, never a fan of a player getting talked up as an option just because they tick a certain box, but pace feels like the most common reason

forget pace options, if leach had been picked and bowled into the rough like jaddu did, anderson could have destroyed us with reverse

Lack of variety looked a real problem at times in this test. Which isn't a call for Curran to be recalled at Old Trafford.

Shardul has had 2 MOTM worthy all round performances where he contributed heavily in at least 3 out of 4 innings of the said tests. The two performances both came in deciders of overseas test series and contributed to historic wins for India.

The guy has effectively only played 3 ****ing tests.

Yeah too bad about the forecast. Accepting the trophy like that is anticlimactic. Was the difference between 2018 and this year in Aus too. Latter was so much more satisfying.

Cribbing about two series wins in Aus ffs.

I suppose that the other difference is that Smith and Warner missed the 2018 series, whereas your lads were depleted when they won this year.

Is Pujara injured and out for the next game then? Suspect Siraj will get swapped out for Ashwin. Rahane will still play.
