***Official*** 4th Test @ The Oval, London - 2nd-6th September

Thing is Leach has taken nearly 4 wickets per test - that's more than Moeen even though he's perceived as the more 'attacking' option

It's not like Moeen has played only 15-20 tests. England know what he's capable of after many years and it's just not good enough tbh. Time to move on

Is Kohli the type of guy who will just say **** it and bowl negative and accept a draw? Dont think his ego would let him do that.

A tad dishonest to only bring bowling up here

Plus the fact that Leach has played nearly all his matches in very helpful conditions where you expect the spinners to take most of the wickets. Leach has definitely been unlucky not to have had a better run in the side but his not playing has massively helped his reputation.

Anyway England are winning this tomorrow.

It's time to put Moeen out to pasture. He's had some great moments in an England shirt but just isn't reliable enough - plus he's now 34. Get Critchley or even Dawson if you want a spin bowling all-rounder. Plus think the likes of Crane and Parkinson are probably more effective options now as pure spin bowling options.

Leach has been treated shabbily
Ali is a better option than those as an all-rounder, plus he's a proven spin bowler all rounder at test level- it looks like he'll get to 3000 runs and 200 wickets quicker than Flintoff. Crane has horrible stats, I'd consider Ali a better bowler than him. The option is Leach/Parkinson instead of or as well as Ali.

I honestly feel an India win or draw are the only two realistic options here. If we get one or two wickets England will go into their shell plus if need be we can get Jadeja to bowl negative lengths.

Getting 10 wickets on this deck doesn’t look easy though.

If Root gets out and the target is a long way off I think we may play defensively.

If Root is in the game then so are we so suck it @Teja.

I think the equation is pretty straight forward here. If Root tons up we win, if he doesn't we may scrap it out for a draw or we lose.

290 in the last day is possible on this kind of pitch Root or no Root. Just need someone to have a really good day.

However from India's point of view, this is a really difficult pitch to bowl to someone in good form. So maybe Root is a problem.

The last two tests have both had a last day collapse. I think it will happen today too and Lord will win it for us.
Agreed. I am hoping that England will be caught in a confused state between going for the win and defending for the draw, thereby giving India the wickets.

Yeah if Stokes is playing and fit to bowl then Leach should be picked ahead of Moeen, but it made sense to go with the latter with the current balance of the side. Woakes coming in changes it slightly I guess, but it's never just going to be about bowling when the bloke is also batting seven.

Whatever it takes!!!
Lol @ Shardul having 6 fifties in 60+ FC matches at an average of 15.xx without a century and then averaging 38 in test cricket with 3 crucial overseas fifties in effectively 5 tests.
When did he play 5? This is his second test this series, right? And then Gabba was there. Did he really play anywhere else? His debut test where he got injured 5 balls into his first over not counting, obviously.

Hope @silentstriker realises now why some of us wanted lead of 380 . 20 more runs would have allowed India to be constantly attacking today. Now there would be mixture of defensive + attacking field today.
Jadeja is the key player today.
