Has anyone seen this **** play Ranji? I've seen him be absolutely village in white ball cricket but he looks like he's spent the time since the Aussie tour batting in the nets.

He gets into such good positions nowadays. Even good bowling allrounders have a strong whiff of see ball hit ball engine rooming. This guy bats.

England's batting does rather take the pitch out of the equation though.

The majority of our first innings dismissals were gifted to India and that was chasing less than 200 on a day one/two track.

Yeah India have batsmen that struggle with movement, but England just have poor batsmen. The distinction hasn’t really been relevant until this game, but it is now.

He should be bowling Ali more if he’s in the team as the front-line spinner. Root has less clue than I thought. Bowling himself over Ali now. Even if this works it makes no sense - Ali is a far better bowler.
