watched the highlights of a pakistan - england test at lords around 2000 or so

wasim and waqar cruising in at 75-85mph was a bit sad.
Always thought of Waqar as the Mike Tyson of fast bowlers: short, powerful, scary and sadly past his prime at 24.

No way is he ever going to have even half the explosiveness of pre-95 Waqar. He's fine for India atm and does a great job but the length he bowls is never going to run through sides like Waqar did. Which is strange because he's perfectly capable of bowling full, fast swing like Waqar but is for some reason obsessed with the short stuff.
I agree with that, but I am quite sure that he won't regress as badly as Waqar and also he will be way more consistent.
I will trade consistency for a some duration of explosiveness any day of the week.
That length you are talking about is actually very rewarding in SENAW conditions atleast.
Waqar's length would get dispatched as soon as he doesn't get lateral movement or the pace isn't high enough.

Kapil Dev has literal bowling averages comparable to Chris Cairns and Abdul Razzaq. This is the type of bowler he was.
Lol.
Cairns' peak ranks is 8, Kapil ranked higher than that for more than the length of Cairns' entire career it seems.

Which Abdul Razzaq?

when you dont have a single bowler upto atg standards in your entire 100 year history, so you have to end up hyping up your new 22 test match bowler to Waqar, Donald, Mcgrath to have any relevance

and the worst part is it repeats
Ravi ashwin is an ATG and has won india more series than wasim or waqar evidenced by his 8 MotS vs 7 and 5 respectively
