@ataraxia some of the positioning is based on potential rather than current skill. Badenhorst keeps putting up good scores even though he is lowly skilled. I keep trying to play with batting order just to see what they can do under different orders and attack settings.

haha that's brilliant

ZCC won their league T20 last night despite Shah-boss, Sajith and Chung Yiu having to sit out due to fitness issues. FHK on the other hand lost a close game despite being full strength - scored a below part score and put in a decent effort defending it, but couldn't close it out.

FHK are now in some trouble batting first vs the Astronauts. Can't remember if I set orders for this game or not, but we're at home so the default orders should be good enough. Only a slight ratings advantage tho - 56k to 51k - and the Astronauts are a well put-together side.

ZCC second XI clocking in 49k to JCC's 46k, so should be a closer game. Bikswing Nouding took two early wickets tho, so now they're just trying to consolidate and recover. Similar situation to FHK but a few runs behind in tougher batting conditions.
Appreciate you turning your skill down from our friendly but still we got nowhere near your team. I think I probably got the batting levels about right as we almost saw out our 50 overs (none of the batsmen really managed to impose themselves around which the others could play 2nd fiddle) but the bowling was really put to the sword - Bell and Hobbs were particularly disappointing - any tips for me ***** that you note from our game? Maybe i should be checking the aggression levels of my bowlers and/or Hobbs was used unwisely in terms of when he bowled

Of course happy also to acknowledge that my team played below its rating par and yours above it - but perhaps that is to do with my inferior orders as a manager so good to know your thoughts!

I can't suggest improvements without knowing your exact orders or the skill of your players, but just by the way the match played out I don't think there is much you could have done differently. I played a few gun players (Bikswing Nouding, Sampath Ramalingam, Zack Yattack and Shahbaz Furqan are all 1st-team material), and they all clicked.

You lost the toss, and had to bat first on a tricky pitch. Surviving the new ball was key but Nouding is an exceptional new-ball bowler (16 acc, 17 mov, 20 exp, partnership breaker. Tail clearer should neuter his new-ball skills a bit, but it's not significant). He took 2 early wickets, and from then on you were chasing the game. A RRR of around 3.5 was never going to be enough for your bowlers to work with, and Zack Yattack (42 batting skill - 9/16/17 - with 17 exp) got going and won us the game.

Unfortunately such is the nature of white-ball cricket. A few star players can win a side a game. On another day Bikswing and Sampath go wicketless, Zack and Shah-boss fall cheaply, and you get the win.

A great analysis and it is of comfort to hear the skills of some of your players which are far superior to mine - there must have been some real newbies in there as well though to bring you down to 49k as a full strength team

Yea lot of dev kids around the few stars. I wanted to tone down the strength of the team, but still wanted to win, hence this balance and set of orders. There are CW ranking points at stake here! :p

Raun Shkorer did Raun Shkorer things vs Morpork last night. He hit 103 off just 75 balls to help us 295/6 batting first. Was a good toss to win, the pitch was pretty good to bat on and the Top 3 (featuring former-Morpork Maurits Grobbelaar) saw off the new ball well, laying the platform for Shkorer's onslaught. Hashim Zahid chipped in with a nice run-a-ball 50 too, fresh off his all-round heroics in the T20 league on Wednesday.

Chung Yiu then took 3 wickets with the ball as we bowled the hosts out for just 152. Skipper Arif Jalal set the tone with a wicket 3rd ball, and the Morpork batting crumbled under scoreboard pressure after that. Wickets all-round and 3-runouts - 2 for Luke Giddings and one for Jalal.

Ratings were 58k vs 55k in our favour, just another example of a few star players (in this case, two current and two former International cricketers) taking the game away from the opposition.

bot bash of a SOD: got reduced to 87-6 before my tail decided to hit three 2nd-highest career scores and one highest (Ludlow's 41 off 43) to bring me to 279-8. But it's a bot bash, I shouldn't expect anything different.

Turns out the Astronauts aren't invincible: bundled out for 93 in a T20 on their home turf. Still should be an interesting chase on the well-worn wicket.

edit: after 3 overs I am 1-2. Heck.

Random win with 2 wickets and 7 balls remaining. Shawn Dee was 1 (11), 6 (18), but his 36 (45) was key to the win. du Preez showing his class with 34* (31). Alex Davey, besides hitting 15 (7), recorded figures of 3-2-1-3. He does like playing ataraXIa, last game he got a fifty and 2 wickets, and in his time at Winton CC he got a hundred and a five-for all in one game! Two 2-wicket wins in 2 games against Ashgrove, luck seems to be on my side.

So after our historic tied game two nights ago, GG and Mooo square off again in a OD Fr.

GG batted first and got pegged down for 149 all out with my recent buy on the market, Wermelskircher (I paid over $100K for him) with figures of 10-2-25-3.

Mooo, in reply are 66/2 in the 13th over, Tindall with 31 off 25 and former GG player Aat Bernstein on 12 off 14

I was hyping him up too much. He's succumbed to a Bhavesh Meyappan's slower ball. He made 61 off 48 balls.

The equation for Mooo now is 32 to get off 180 balls with 7 wickets in hand. Should be easy-peasy.

Pathetic batting from the TMOs. Can’t get the ball of the square. And now just under to much pressure with stupid wickets.
