So we've nearly finalised our first team, just need to pick a captain! We can do that while moving onto the 1870s/80s/90s team

1900s-1910s XI

Jack Hobbs
Victor Trumper
Clem Hill
Aubrey Faulkner 5
Stanley Jackson
Monty Noble 6
Frank Foster 2
Dick Lilley +
Tibby Cotter 3
Sydney Barnes 1
Colin Blythe 4

So,

Pick your 1900s-1910s XI captain
pick your two opening batsman for the 1870s/80s/90s XI
pick your number 3 batsman for the 1870s/80s/90s XI
pick your two opening bowlers for the 1870s/80s/90s XI

Exactly all this for me too please, even down to the shout out for Richardson.

And Monty Noble for captain of the 1900s team.

alright let's keep this 19th century side moving! 5-0 in all areas says enough to me

I was about to vote for Hayward and push Shrewsbury in to the middle order.

Noble for captain

Grace, Ranji, Lohmann and Spofforth too.

Billy Murdoch is a lock for me, but the other middle order spot is a tough one - funnily enough, both Hill and Jackson could easily make this team too! Joe Darling was the leading runscorer of the 1890s and normally played in the middle-order, but all his big runs came as an opener. And Syd Gregory played slightly less in the 1890s than he did in the 1900s, but was statistically more successful in the earlier decade. However, I'm going to plump for Allan Steel, who was not only one of the outstanding middle-order bats of the 1880s but a more than handy bowler as well.

As for the spinner, it's a bit six-of-one-half-a-dozen-of-the-other between Bobby Peel and Johnny Briggs, but I'm going with Peel because he had to play all his matches against Australia and didn't get any LOLstats matches against South Africa to boost his numbers.

So, that was a long way of saying:

Billy Murdoch
AG Steel

Bobby Peel

Murdoch, Abel
Peel

I'm not so sure about batting positions here. Would like to see Stoddart feature at some stage.

Could we not rush this please? Four hours is not enough time to allow people a chance to vote.

I considered Abel for that slot as well, but if you look at his record he was predominantly an opener.
