Bairstow has a decent record at 6 and 7 (and 8). he’s not top 5 calibre though and bats much better with the gloves.

Buttler dropped loads of catches when he didn’t keep, so Bairstow is getting shafted slightly- not keeping and batting out of position. Dropping buttler needs to beconsidered as sounds like he isn’t going to Australia

He's had a bad injury that's kept him out of this season. I don't remember him being injured previously, but that may not prove anything

If the English posters here thought like their Indian brethren, this thread would be filled with posts suggesting Root must've exhausted his share of form in this innings, that this miraculous performance is unlikely happen again, that this only delays the inevitable by papering over cracks -- all of which means England are bound to lose 3-1 here and then get cleanly swept in The Ashes.

It's my least fave thing of England doing well, idjits calling for stupid declarations, because they want extra paid time on the golf course. Beefy gone, but Warne and Vaughan will continue.
