England have won a stack of games like this simply by having one batsman in absolute worldie form though, as they do now.
Yeah I mean if they bowl India out cheaply they're favourites, but India are never out of the game after a bad innings with the bat.

Headingley sometimes gets easier to bat on too, so you can overcome a first innings deficit. England won a game here after 67ao in the first innings.

Whatever it takes!!!
Pujara's mistake was understandable but it's a horrid dismissal for Rahul.
I think both are not criminal or anything and they were good balls and following good setups but I just think you expect more out of an opener and a #3 at the international level. Like I said, its hard to shake off the feeling that they were a bit complacent and/or over-confident after the last win. Hopefully that bubble has been burst now and the rest can put their heads down and make a score.

My feeling is that 90% of the time when a side wins the toss and bats first, you expect a minimum of 300. Anything less than that is a win for the opposition. Similarly when you put in an opposition, I feel the mark is 200-250. Anything more, the other side is the winner from that decision.

Pujara repeated the same mistake that's been getting him out though. Seems like all you have to do these days is bowl outside the second off-stump to him early doors and he'll oblige you before long.

It amazing what a leveler Test cricket is, how quickly 2 tests of good work can be undone in a few overs.

Hmm true but this one was one that was angled in from wide of the crease and swung away, not just a standard top of off pujara dismissal. Excellent ball imo.

Pujara does make a lot of good balls seem unplayable these days though.

What a terrible shot from a class player. Shades of the second innings adelaide dismissal. He should be better than that ffs

Horrible. Neither a defensive shot nor a full-blooded boundary shot, just begging to nick it.
