You want to disrupt the one thing that's working to make the guy with tech issues open in ENG? If Pujara stays, his best chance is to continue coming in with a hundred on the board, not when it's 0/0.
Yes, pretty much. Just because it's working (it's been 2 matches) doesn't mean it's right.

I think England should have gone for Vince here. It looks like a low scoring series to me & a guy of his class could have been very useful.

Picking up strokeless wonders like Burns wouldn't hurt India that much. They maybe useful against other sides but Indian attack is a tad unconventional. You need to score against them to be successful. Just like Root is doing.

Need to fit in Ollie Pope as well somewhere.

Well Burns did get dropped in India. So maybe he is not a guaranteed starter as well. Yes he scored a fine ton vs NZ & I get that why they want to continue with him.
But as I said a guy like Vince could prove more useful than him in this series & then in Ashes.

I didn't think malan was terrible when he was in the team. Was seriously impressed by him in the ashes in Australia and yeah he had a bad few games after that but he's not a no hoper like some of the others they've tried out imo.

malan struggles when the ball moves slightly in limited overs cricket

he'll probably not be a threat to any good bowling attack in tests

Let's face it, the cupboard is so bare that the England selectors have already eaten the shelves. I'd have liked to see Alex Davies given a go but I can see why they didn't want to chuck a new player into the bear pit right now. In which case it was either Malan, Denly or Vince. I'd have gone Denly but not much in it really.

Pope looks in awful form and got a duck in the RL semi on Tuesday. Not sure now is the time to bring him back. I do hope they replace Curran though, he has gone backwards since debut. An all rounder is supposed to be Test quality at one of the disciplines FFS.

If Ashwin plays who he should replace? Ishant bowled at lower pace but he did get crucial wickets somehow. Probably still not that fit as well.
Siraj Bumrah are lock. Shami after All round display is great as well.. Little expensive though.

Whatever it takes!!!
If the wicket and the forecast demands it, I will play Ashwin for Shami. Otherwise, mostly same side. If Shami is still not 100% maybe even Lord can come in for him.

Amazing. Anderson's oversized ego consumes his teammate's shoulder. After tanking his team's odds on the fateful last day at Lord's. How does he live with himself?

England are looking makeshift. Assume Hameed 2 Malan 3. Overton and Mahmood in for Curran and Wood. If England steal a win here India will be furious. India need to find a way to get Ashwin in. I suspect they will be scared of losing Jadeja’s batting and fielding by dropping him - but he has been ineffective with the ball - so will be interesting to see what they go for
