Shocking performance and ludicrous captaincy.Changes must start now but I bet the team will be the same next test.Surely Malan and Hales must be better than Sibley the strokeless wonder.Hamed not the answer Can we get cook out of retirement

I still can't come to terms with Kohli's team selections over the last 2-3 years but it amazes me how it turns out to be right in the end.

Pant at no 6 seemed like a disaster in the making, but he has been instrumental in Indian wins over the last year or so.

I certainly did not expect Rohit and Rahul to perform the way they are as openers. Seeing off the new ball and forging partnerships, I believed, was beyond them in English conditions.

Going in with four seamers (and a longgg tail) looked silly especially considering Ashwin's form off late. But that didn't effect the team's performance.

We've been the no.1 team for some time now and all this while our middle order batsmen continue to average in 20's since a year or two.

Won't be surprised if that happens. Our batting was relatively more solid back then, but bowling? No comparison, the present bowling unit is arguably the best ever Indian bowling attack.
Arguably? It's (statistically) one of the strongest attacks (as a coherent unit) of all time, nevermind India's.

Surely Root deserved to be MOTM? Way more runs, played a better attack, looked flawless throughout.
Was just a classic ‘pick someone from the winning team’ pick, plus Root’s poor captaincy today cost us the game so there’s that too

Whatever it takes!!!
hahaha England creating the one situation where Virat becomes the best available captaincy option for India. Getting into a slanging match.

Yeah the Indian selectors are not perfect to say the least but they make a lot of people here (especially me) taste it.

I could be wrong but the forum for the most part were not keen at all on Sundar over Kuldeep in Australia for example.

I think the initial debut of Bumrah divided opinion, but I think was due to Bhuvi been dropped?

That South Africa tour in 2017-18 was crazy. Bumrah was fast tracked into test side but the issue was dropping Bhuvi after he had an amazing first test. That was also the series where they started trying Ash at 6 and Pandya at 7. They dropped Rahane for Rohit at no.5 which turned out to be a bad move (for that particular series).

In the post-match presentation both Kohli and KL alluded to a specific incident that got the India team fired up. Does anyone know what it was?

" Instead, the arrival of Bumrah meant all bets were off. As if his smiling visage wasn't enough to get under England's skin, his first act was to ask Haseeb Hameed at short leg to kneel before him and tie up his dangling shoe-lace, potentially a coincidence, but an expertly inserted length of needle either way "

Needlessly provocative from Miller. Watched this live and there was nothing insinuated there at all.

I certainly didn't see the point of Sundar over Kuldeep. Obviously I was wrong.

To be fair I was perplexed as well.

Kuldeep probably would have been walloped all around the place that match and wouldn't have offered what Washington did with the bat.

Suppose that's why the Indian selectors are paid big bucks and we are chatting crap online. :D
