Ashwin in for Kohli?England with a massive chance here. Maybe a defeat will spur some changes.
Yeah he's about 40% of our batting, out early and India are faves.I’d say the appropriate cliche for this pitch is ‘just enough to keep the bowlers interested’. Defending a low total will be tough, but if Root gets out it’s anyone’s game.
The entire middle order sucks right now, including Kohli. Yes they did well today but they are all on a short leash.Ashwin in for Kohli?
this will be the 7th successful 150+ chase at lords...There's only been three successful chases at Lord's of more than 200 ever, and only six of 150+.
Even if India do capitulate for eff all tomorrow the chase is far from a given, especially given the comedy stylings of our batting order.
If Pant can marshal another 50 with the tail the visitors are favs, IMHO.
If you are thinking of Ashwin, obviously playing two spinners on this pitch would have been risky. India needs a pace bowler who can bat. They need to rethink the strategy of keeping Pandya out of the tests at least for important tours.
Yeah and I don’t think 6 is a low number for a particular ground after playing around with this - http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchRunChase.aspthis will be the 7th successful 150+ chase at lords...
Yeah these stats feature pitches that used to deteriorate massively, they are pretty redundant nowadays as pitches hold up much more. It was oft a Beefy stat so they'd declare early and give him more time on the golf course. let us talk modern times.this will be the 7th successful 150+ chase at lords...
Curran bats at 8. England win if the chase is 200 with more than 60 overs.Another 50 runs for India and this is by no means a walk in the park for England. Nothing to do with the wicket at all which I don't think will do anything untoward, but more to with how utter ****e our batting line up is bar Root.
Right now I'd rather be in Englands shoes (just) but this game is still wide open and any sort of certainty from either sets of fans on how this will play out is bollocks talk.
230+ would make us favouritesCurran bats at 8. England win if the chase is 200 with more than 60 overs.
they have got bear stew, butt face and moeenChases are always more difficult than the numerical target suggests. I realise that the ease of chasing has increased quite a bit in recent years, but not enough to alter that fact - not unless you have an explosive attacking game-changing bat like Stokes or Pant who can completely destroy any semblance of control the fielding captain has over proceedings.
You have to factor in the number of tests played at the ground though. Lord's is way out in front (with 141).Yeah and I don’t think 6 is a low number for a particular ground after playing around with this - http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchRunChase.asp
So from a quick glance the stat doesn’t seem to suggest Lords is a tougher place to chase than most other grounds.
