Is that because you don't know how to?I don't start threads but it would be interesting to see the candidates for a 'shot of the century'.
Yeah I think the drift is the killer cos it drops it into that batting blind spot everyone has on a fullish length just outside leg stump. The Laxman one Migara posted didn't drift as much, but it was in a similar area of the deck and turned a crazy amount too. I think landing them in that area (at the right sort of pace, obvs) makes it much harder to play than if it's a tiny bit either wider or straighter. It's just a zone that makes a lot of players hesitate to use their feet.I've never seen anything from Warne drift and spin near as much as the Gatting ball.
Haha, I figure I'd be able to work it out. No, it's more the fact I feel as if there'd be crushing disappointment and personal self-pity if no one particularly posted in it and it died out just as quickly. Or I just can't be arsed. Is that because you don't know how to?
Steve Waugh's last ball ton an iconic shot which springs to mind.
Technically and on the basis of degree of difficulty, a couple of backfoot straight drives on the up which Tendulkar played vs Aus in the 98 series in India off the quicks always stood out to me. Genuinely a ridiculously hard shot to execute. Pretty much the preserve of only the genuinely elite players. Not talking about when it's played with width through the off side or when the ball's full and someone hangs on the back dog, but punched back down the ground off a good length. I think they're probably the best cricket shots I've ever seen.
Like, if I see anyone play a backfoot drive down the ground off a quick, I automatically mark them really, really highly.
Took me many many watches to realize that it wasn't a caught behind. Video for reference (that first ball was a cracker too, and out):Sad to see no mention of Wasims delivery to Dravid in 99.

Quick off break that drifted and spun. Nothing very unique about it.The ' ball of the century ' really is the ' televised ball of the century'. Surely there were others that did not get the acclaim of a TV audience such as :

Trying to recall such a ball being bowled at 115-120 or so km/h. If you'd like to point out an example, be my guest.Quick off break that drifted and spun. Nothing very unique about it.

Good from around the wicket for off-spin. This one might be better though. Hard to compare over and around the wicket balls.Talking of blindspot, this is the ball of this century.
