*Official* India tour of Sri Lanka

International Coach
Kishan should open for India in WT20 I think. He is a typical white ball dasher that we need in Powerplay.
Shaw should be the 3rd opener. SKY at 3 seems legit with his aggressive stroke play especially against spin.

Kishan
Rohit
SKY
Kohli+
Pant
Pandya
Jadeja/Sundar
Thakur
Siraj
Bumrah
R Chahar/Varun C

That's World Cup winning formula in my view.
Is Siraj not poor in limited overs? (Can't back this up tbf)

No Bhuvi?

Siraj was the best pacer in recent IPl.. Nailing yorkers after yorkers at Death. Not to mention he is gun with new ball. Bhuvi has lost good 5-6 kph & trundling at 125 kph & even Deepak Chahar is bowling quicker & better than him. Had a mediocre IPl as well.
Siraj is most in form pacer in Indian cricket right now.

Wouldn't Kohli be more likely to open with Sharma? You'd have a middle order of SKY, Kishan, Pant, etc. coming in after them. Not saying Kohli is a better opener or even that he should play in this format, but isn't that the most likely outcome in that side?

Depends. Jaddu is a better batsman, bowler and fielder than Krunal IMO in any format. So I wont play Krunal over Jaddu anytime. Both could be a option though if we dont want to go with too many wristies. Ideally, I would play Sundar as the 3rd spinner ahead of any of wrist/mystery spinners and get him to bowl the powerplay. Shardul, Hardik and Jaddu can manage the middle overs. Basically,

powerplay - Sundar, Bhuvi and Bumrah
middle overs - Shardul, Jaddu, Hardik, Sundar (if needed)
slog - Bhuvi, Bumrah, Shardul, Hardik (if needed)

This will give us so many options across the board.

Yeah I think Thakur and Sundar are fighting for the same position - conditions will dictate who plays.

the lead wrist spinner is probably where India will have their biggest selection headache - r chahar, kuldeep, chakravarthy or Chahal.

Rohit Kohli opening would be so so bad for us. Kohli had a horror IPl in UAE & then again this IPl. His struggle against spin has increased to such an extent that it isn't even funny anymore.

Rohit is a slow starter as well. Kishan had a blast as a opener last time for MI in UAE. He can clear the big boundaries of Dubai & Abu Dhabi. The assault to Nortje & Rabada was great to watch last year.

Overall but I fully expect us to sc*ew things up with Kohli running things. WI/Eng will bludgeon us to death in Semi anyways.

Iyer, SKY, Shaw should all play on a rotation basis. Ishan Kishan I dunno, given Pant's existence. KL can open. Dhawan standby.

That is how it should be ideally, and India (Kohli) have actually tried that strategy quite a few times, but for better or worse Kohli seems to do a lot worse opening than at #3. I think he really should be allowed to stay at #3 and a dynamic opener be brought in to help Rohit along.

SKY is our third best LO batsman imo. Has to play.
To be fair, we need to understand all of these guys bat this way in certain conditions. I dont think any of them will do well on the bouncy tracks. But then again, **** those places, the WC and WT20 are happening in the SC. :p

Regular pace bowler delivery: index and middle fingers painting with a smooth brushstroke

Knuckleball: fingernails on the blackboard.

Just observed Deepak Chahar's knuckleball to dismiss Wanindu. It was well decieved.

This is a good finish for Karunaratne and SL.

275 might prove to be a competitive total on this wicket. But this India...and they go hard.
