Pant is already no.7 in the rankings and is just getting started. :)
yeah i'm not 110% convinced yet by pant though he certainly deserves to get on the list above root and probably marn00s and conway as well tbh

no way

he's not likely to succeed against the moving ball and owns some of the worst innings i have ever seen against it. excellent keeper batsman but he's not comparable to top order batsman. pant has a different role and a very different skill set.

if you want to compare pant as a batsman to pure batsmen, root is comfortably better and it isn't close. this isn't really pant's fault or problem though.

Kind of a bit sad too though. Must hurt for a fan to lose these guys
Labuschagne went to Aus as a kid didn't he?

And they had Conway...someone really dropped the ball there. He averaged something like 25 for his franchise over a solid number of games. Conway was pretty fortunate himself to dodge the Siddons era at Wellington though.

yeah that's a fair point - really that's why i said i'm not 110% entirely convinced yet, there's a very credible argument he's a great subcontinent bat who's played some excellent innings against underperforming aus attacks by playing meme Dave Warner Cricket 2K14 and getting very very lucky

but i do think, ok fair while i may have been a bit quick to fire by saying hes better than root and (especially) marn00s, i would say that root's definitely in the same tier of bats as pant and that's a tier below your smiths and your kohlis

very big call
see above

also sorry for quoting deleting and requoting tbh, accidentally sent the post early

It also amuses me that Pant is spoken about like a second coming but people forget about QDK.
That's cos Pant is clearly better than QDK if we're talking tests (especially if we're talking tests and potential), unless we're going by T20 franchise games.
