Oh Harry. Why didn't he just bury it first time?

EDIT
Wrong foot, I suppose. Great defending tbf.

This has been a better game than I anticipated, and England have done better than I thought they would to. But I imagine Germany's technical prowess will begin to tell when England invariably tire out and Goretzka and Kroos get more time on the ball.

Five subs changes that sort of thing a lot tbf. We saw that yesterday, can turn a game into a total unstructured mess which surely is better for England.

Phillips' and Rice's yellow cards won't help either. Southgate will need to get his substitutions spot on.

Don't really agree with that. A mess means more space for Germany.

Yeah true. But the subs things cuts both ways. I kind of suspect England getting a result is contingent of them scoring first though. Wouldn't fancy them at all if they concede first.

Eh, I feel that England's attacking talent is held back a lot more by their system than Germany's. More space for Germany, sure, but also more space for Sterling, Foden etc etc

sure but there is an element of "scoring goals is better than not scoring goals hashtag analysis" when you go down that route

Sterling just ran into trouble there. And put us in trouble at the other end.
We need to get Saka into the game where he can actually hurt Germany.

England missing quality on the ball in possession. Rice and Philips are not worrying Germany when they get the ball.

Haha not really, England have set up in such a way that chasing the game against a much more technically proficient German team would be a massively tall order. Playing on the counter whilst England get more and more open as they desperately seek an equaliser would suit Germany perfectly.
