Hence the defensive midfields from Southgate.
He will still get slaughtered by the idiots at 4pm when the team is announced. Hard choice for him with Mount/Foden but I'd be tempted to pick the same starting line up as last week.

Prepare for a Euro 2000 tribute match with the ugliest winner bundled across the line by a Sterling or Kane.

Tifo football trying some jinxing by Celebrating how 'good' Germany's 3-4-3 system has been.

In all fairness, I bet a sizeable minority don't have any meaningful memories of 2010 either.

Yeah, that's not a thought to lessen those gnawing fears of my ongoing senescence either...

Welcome to the club mate. If it's any consolation, my son is having to come to terms with watching the first England player who's younger than him.

Wish I only had a vague memory of that one but after 90,96 and 10 it is a must win game today and unless we win easily it will be a horrible game to watch. If this was a qualifier I would be confident we would beat them as I don't rate them but as it is a knockout game in a tournament I have a bad feeling about it.

Only thing to do is buy lots of beer and get smashed either way.

15 years later I still can’t make my mind up about the Ronaldinho one but I think he probably meant it. The technique just doesn’t seem consistent with a botched cross.

Yeah definitely one of those "I intended it, but it still required a lot of good fortune and/or a major error for it to come off" ones I reckon.

That Brazil team was great though. Definitely underrated I think. Even if Roque Junior did feature heavily.

I have almost no expectations and I’m pretty sure the consensus is generally hope over anything else. But if England win today the day after the favourites go home the hype is going to be absolutely bananas.

On paper England have a perfectly good chance imo, and there's no reason to think they aren't in with a shout of winning. In reality though...
