No one has ever looked like less of a footballer than Gareth Barry does for the 4th Germany goal. Ozil isn't even fast ffs.
I honestly can't remember the goal at all (only things I remember clearly from the match are the embarrassing goal from the long ball and the Lampard goal that wasn't) and I refuse to watch it now for fear of cognitive dissonance. However my emotions tell me that it will have been every England players' fault except for Barry's.

As we were two nil down early we had to get forward and attempt to get back into the game and for a period before half time we looked really good. If we hadn't conceded early it would have been the same old stodge and narrow defeat.

Yeah but this is as much of a truism as saying "if we hadn't played as badly as we did, the result would not have been as bad as it was."

3-1 Germany. Absolute lay down certainties. England's mediocrity is in their DNA. Incapable of winning.
haha - what’s sweeter for an Aussie than England losing to Germany preferably on penalties.

maybeonlyengland losing to the Argies.

Loss on penalties for England. They score early, possibly Maguire from a set piece, and then sit deep conceding an own goal in injury time. Have no control of the game in ET but squeak into pens where history is repeated.

Germany have looked vulnerable when they have been attacked in the group games and I just don’t think Southgate will do it. England sitting back will invite the German fullbacks forward and leave Kane without support.

So the winner gets Italy in Rome and they have almost 3 extra days to prepare. That’s a good schedule for Italy.

The crowd capacity has been increased to 45,000 (still unnecessarily low), Germany only allowed 2,000 fans who must all be British residents.
Plus Germany have been banned from training on the pitch at Wembley by UEFA because of the wet weather.

You're normally on the cautious side of Covid LT. I thought so anyway. What capacity do you think it should be?

Not a comment on the rights and wrongs of lockdowns and what have you, but as a "double jabbed" person I still wouldn't be interested in attending any sort of gathering of 60k people or what have you

Because of Covid reasons or because you hate people though?

Haha generally both, but not sure about the ratio

Tbf though, it's all the transport and travel in small spaces that would necessarily be required that would mostly bother me rather than being in the stadium itself

Being in a big open space like Wembley wouldn't be too bad, but all the inner London trains and tubes etc are hateful at the best of times, let alone now
