The approach from Ashwin and Pant was good. If they had stayed just a little bit more, the runs scored would have made it very difficult for the Kiwis to chase in limited overs.

The last 3 wickets for India added 26 in both innings put together. NZ added 57 . Thats pretty much the differencce between the teams so far. Both bowling lineups have been great, batting lineups have mostly struggled and the fielding has been top notch (massively surprised by India's slip catching). But those runs from Southee and Jamieson really hurt.

Pant, ok. Ashwin just doesn't have the strength to hit the ball forcefully off seamers. He's a touch player and should've played within his limits.

Ashwin not really a "proper" bat in these conditions. Pant was a bad shot but his innings overall was full of risk and was pretty fair I'd say.

? Ashwin was in with Shami at the other end. There's no point hanging around. Pant is just Pant his approach got him 40 runs so no Im not going to complain.

Pujara flat out isnt good in these conditions tbf but fair enough it was a poor shot.

Jamieson in particular big stride down the wicket puts off the length. Worth a go IMO.

Root hasn't made a 50 in 6/7 tests now, he's in bad form.

Tommy Latham playing his shots a bit would be nice once he gets himself in. He kinda doesn't really know how good he can be and it would be nice for him to take some of that mental pressure he puts on himself back on the bowlers.
