there are plenty of shittier techniques in world cricket. His problem is more between the ears.Rohit Sharma is horrible to watch hate his technique
It's more the fact that he stays so leg side of the ball when he's playing off the back foot that make people cringe a bit, I think. It's not the fact that he drives length balls.I really don't see what's so bad about Gill's technique. Yes, he drives on the up a fair bit but I don't think there's much technically wrong with his batting and think he looks decently suited to opening, particularly on the faster pitches.
His is the worst I can think of for a good batsman. He makes Steven Smith look like Ian Bell. He makes Rory Burns look like David Gower.there are plenty of ****tier techniques in world cricket. His problem is more between the ears.
yeah he does push out at the ball as well which is suicide in NZ, SA and England if you're an opener but he's much less pronounced than say, Kohli or Rohit. It's more the fact that he stays so leg side of the ball when he's playing off the back foot that make people cringe a bit, I think. I like his technique a lot and more or less agree with you but he's got those two or three shots that make you think of a bad Herschelle Gibbs dismissal.
He also doesn't move his feet a whole lot. It's what gives the illusion that he has a lot of time to play the ball.I really don't see what's so bad about Gill's technique. Yes, he drives on the up a fair bit but I don't think there's much technically wrong with his batting and think he looks decently suited to opening, particularly on the faster pitches.
Depends how well you execute what you're doing. You can make runs with any technique if you execute the shots well enough. Gill isn't very experienced only 30 FC games. Not a great sample size, hard to know what he would average in FC after 200 games.yeah he does push out at the ball as well which is suicide in NZ, SA and England if you're an opener but he's much less pronounced than say, Kohli or Rohit.
Yet more proof that Latham>>>Williamson as captainWhy does Boult not have a short leg in?
Ok you've got me chasing my own tail here lol. I think he's aesthetically the most pleasing batsman I've seen since Laxman and Inzy retired, but that counts for little overall. His technique in terms of effectiveness is not the worst either, but it's the lapses in concentration that let him down usually. His is the worst I can think of for a good batsman. He makes Steven Smith look like Ian Bell. He makes Rory Burns look like David Gower.
Technique is irrelevant to me (other than aesthetically), doesn't mean a player will or won't get runs. Was just saying.
He then decided to come around the wicket which makes even less sense...Yet more proof that Latham>>>Williamson as captain
This would be a great time obviously to turn it around, but if NZ play two specialist spinners in India, he probably shouldn’t not be an automatic starter given the way he’s been bowling.Boult's been noticeably less good since returning from injury for Boxing Day
If he's bowling around the wicket to both batsmen there's definitely no reason at all not to have Jamieson on instead.Would sub out Boult already tbh. Get him angry so he comes back for a better second spell.
He should probably be an automatic non-starter in that situation tbh. This would be a great time obviously to turn it around, but if NZ play two specialist spinners in India, he probably shouldn’t not be an automatic starter given the way he’s been bowling.
Southee's our best pacer in the subcontinent and Wagner is endurance personified, so I tend to agree. This would be a great time obviously to turn it around, but if NZ play two specialist spinners in India, he probably shouldn’t not be an automatic starter given the way he’s been bowling.
