Domestic contracts announced today from all major associations... No surprises with firebirds. Luke Georgeson is the new kid on the block. He's plying his trade in ireland at the moment. Well deserved. I was hoping someone like Nick Greenwood will be signed up and still a possibility with the 16th announced end of this month. No movements out of Wellington. Was thinking it may be time for Finn Allen to move back to Auckland but he's decided to stay to carry on with firebirds. Doubt if he is going to be available much for firebirds. He's well sought after around the world t20 league.

Nathan Smith of course is a massive news for firebirds, he will go really well in our conditions and at basin.

He's got a passport too. Was thinking he might actually pop up in the Ireland team next year if he didn't get a Wellington contract.

Yeah recently scored a list A hundred in Ireland domestic. Very enterprising cricketer. Has water tight technique, easy on the eyes. Mostly used as a bowler in the u19 tournament I recall but more of a bat than a bowler.

George Worker's moved to Auckland.

Cole Briggs, the lad that got couple of hundreds after making debut for Auckland last year in on the contract list. Ryan Harrison is another one.

Hoping Adi Ashok is on the contract list.

interesting. why? he was probably first batsman picked in white ball cricket. does he want that sweet, sweet auckland motorway to bat on in fc?

Jake Gibson from ND moving to Otago. Rest stock standard. Hoping Foxcroft is able to get back in the country and have a full season for Otago.

That and likely his GF lives in Auckland.

There was a serious chat about Kyle Jamieson moving to Wellington this year. His gf lives here in Wellington. Not sure why that didn't happen.

Whatever happened to Christian Leopard? A lot was made of him and now he has no contract with CD. Still young but our young ones throw in the towel as soon as they are not in the mix for contract. Hope he's still in the mix with CD. Ajaz lost his central contract meant someone from CD was going to miss out on CD contract.

Our Fab Four of bowling aren't getting any younger (Wagner 35, Southee 32, Boult 31, Jamieson 26).

Looking for the next trio or quartet, I went looking for names with ages more towards Jamieson or lower. Matt Henry (29) and Lockie Ferguson (30) are a bit close in age to the current Fab Four. They'll probably get more games between generations, but I don't see full test careers for them unless/until something goes horribly wrong for the current bowlers. We don't play enough for someone to do an Anderson and go on an insane run post-30.

Ben Sears 23 (28 @ 27)
Jacob Duffy 26 (197 @ 31)
Michael Rae 26 (114 @ 34)
Fraser Sheat 23 (63 @ 22)

Sears is by far the most talented bowler there. Our under 26 brigade is non-existent. We've got about 5 years tops to correct it. Even if talent comes through, we don't want to be debuting three 20 year olds within 18 months of each other.

Sheat will be an interesting one to watch. He's been a beast in domestix for a couple of seasons (admittedly on helpful pitches).
