50 for Lord DG

Mind you, I still don't think I'd pick him unless his bowling is cherry ripe and ready to go.

Damn, Taylor needed some time in the middle.

I sense a super over coming with that discussion of them not wanting it to be a draw. Or maybe a double innings super over, since it’s a test.

Blundell seem to have got out early and got a second hit. Why not Taylor? We need him firing but I can't quite take the squad warm up all that seriously. Looks like Santner didn't bowl much or bowled but didn't pick a wicket? I'd have bowled Santner at the Doug, Henry and Jamieson instead of using Ravindra who's most likely not going to play. Couple of wickets for Santner instead of Ravindra would have been better for Santner's confidence going into the game. They will have to play a spinner I'd think and if they don't against England but then try to bring one vs India that won't help.

Well I've heard from John Bracewell he can't truly mount up the overs with that, unless perhaps the final was into a sixth day and there's really no tomorrow to consider. Ongoing groin/hip problem won't allow it.

Well this reference completely predates your posting career here, but Taylor falling cheaply to Southee twice in a day really dents the psyche. It would be a lot like Sodhi getting smacked out of the attack in a club game by CW's Blocky twice.

Any video scorecard in the vault @nzfan? I saw a pic with what looked like a handycam set up right behind the bowler's arm.

Nothing of late. The last game is Bangladesh Pak in the vault. The vault needs a cam and a laptop to work. The laptop with the vault software. Why don't they just carry I have no idea. They have unlimited baggage on the flights. They could have streamed it live on YouTube.

Yes back during the 2015 tour they'd put the ball-by-ball clips vs. Somerset etc. into the vault within a few hours.

It possibly enters a funny area of rights ownership.

County games are covered on youtube. I heard there have been like 8 million viewing so far of live county cricket. If our guys asked Hampshire they probably would have put it on their website and youtube. Probably Spark wouldn't want it you never know.

Kyle Jamieson strikes first. Will Young caught by Tom Blundell for 1. Bit of extra bounce and finds the edge. Williamson XI 17/1 in the 8th over as Kane Williamson joins Rachin Ravindra 15*

50 up for the Williamson XI in the 21st over. Rachin Ravindra pushes one to the cover fence off Colin de Grandhomme. Ravindra 38* Williamson 11* 52/1.

Does Ravindra have any chance of featuring in the Tests or is he just touring for experience this time as the heir apparent? Seems he has way more upside than Santner given the latter doesn't tend to have much impact with the red ball. Other than Root, England are a pretty obliging side to bowl spin to right now so this wouldn't be the worst place for him to contribute some overs. In theory a spin bowling allrounder would really suit the makeup of the side to balance the 4 quicks when Boult comes back, though CDG has done so well I guess his spot is safe for now.

Yes Ravindra is maybe a realistic chance on the right pitch. His current bowling average of 58 has actually been falling sharply from a very comical one 12 months ago. Yet to deliver that '25 overs for under 50' type of first-class scorecard that a cautious KW would probably want to see, but he's already had 11 NZA four-dayers since 2018. A 42 batting avg in those, included a good 70 in a 226 total against the full Pakistan, 12 wickets @ 62 and a 3.74 ER with the ball.
