***Official*** English Football Season 2020-21

Can see why de Gea hasn't saved a penalty for 6 years, he looked like a striker who'd decided to go in goals for the shootout for a laugh.

Ironically the only time he looked like a goalkeeper was when he stepped up to take a penalty.
Surely if you are not confident when it comes to taking a peno, you absolutely smash it and hope for the best?

I'm fascinated to see how Rashford progresses next few seasons, abysmal tonight and a streaky season although plenty of goals. I do think their is a very talented player their, but he has been played into the ground which is not the hallmark of a gun manager.

EDIT...watched it elsewhere but did BT say it was not the result that most people in the UK wanted?

**** me imagine having 6 subs and not making any for 100 minutes. Rashford couldn't move and Bailly was starting to hallucinate and Ole was like "carry on". Then they chose to kick second in the shoot out. Absolutely comical game management.

Yeah, it’s like he had no plan in terms of how to change the game if things didn’t go his way. He’s also a bit too reliant on certain players at times - like with Rashford and Bruno last night.

I mean, Ole should know better than anyone how impactful subs can be. What if SAF simply decided he wanted to keep his first choice strikers on for the full game in 99?

The fact that he waited until the second half of extra time and then brought on the less than superlative Fred indicated he doesn't think much of his squad.

I agree, but that’s mostly a problem he’s created for himself. Squad management over the course of the season, giving the right players opportunities, and proper rotation is what a manager is supposed to do so that he doesn’t need to rely only on 11 players all the time.

It’s good for the players as well because they get a chance to develop and improve, while giving their manager an option if he’s out of ideas.

Was going to post about this.

You can see it even surprised the ref because he has to double check he's heard Fernandes correctly.

Kicking first in a shootout is such a massive advantage, I have no idea why they would pass up on that.
