Yep that is what I meant. A 1-0 loss away is a pretty terrible result when you have away goals but without them it is not all that bad, we had the same against Swansea last year and made it through.Away goals don't count in play offs do they?
Or is that what you mean
I'll be honest and say I'm not off book on the law that pertains to keepers having to stay on the line, but if it's (as one imagines) some part having to be in contact with the whitewash before the kick is taken, then the ref was technically correct, albeit probably a pedantic twot.
Yeah, pretty much my feelings. In football though there are certain rules that just don't seem to get applied so it always seems on the nose when one goes against you. I remember us conceding a penalty for holding at a corner once - fine, but do it every time ffs.
I'd love see to lower/non-league refs apply the six second rule for Keepers too, because who doesn't love an indirect free kick in the box.
But as had been said, if you've had multiple warnings then you have only yourself to blame
Yeah exactly. Given the context, if the ref hadn't sent him off he would have literally been deliberately breaking the rules himself, thereby bringing the entire game, and himself, into disrepute.Apparently the ref warned both keepers before the game and before the shoot-out. So by the last time the keeper encroached he'd been told about it 4 times.
The way officiating works doesn't give the ref much of an option. The linesman's job is to stand on the line and flag if there's encroachment. He can hardly be like "ah sure there was only a little bit of encroachment", if it's clear then he has to flag. Once he's flagged, the ref can hardly overrule him. Once he's given a warning, he has to give a yellow and then another yellow.
I imagine he was furious with the keeper, because there was nothing else he could have done and now he's getting very serious abuse over it.
Apparently the fans were charged a mere 60 pounds for the "pleasure" of watching that, yikesA very Spursy goal, well done.
