Hadlee is a much better bowler than kapil is, and the Ga between there batting nowhere makes up for that.

If i would replace Hadlee for batting I’d put Imran in there rather than Kapil.

Averages 32 with both bat and ball. That is not a trash away record by any means. A full career Flintoff or a Mankad stat, which is still world class.
"Last n years" stat may not make much sense for retired cricketers, but for active players it gives an indication on how they have evolved off late and how they could be expected to perform in the near future.
Jadeja averages 26 with the ball and 43 with the bat in last 5 years overseas.
Another scarcely known stat : Jadeja has a better difference between batting and bowling average at the same age(32) as compared to all of the great 80's allrounders, even Imran.

Rather than 5 years, you should only go back to the last time he was not selected to play without an injury. If he is not an auto pick, he can't be ATG.

That assumes players arrive on the scene preordained as such, or that selectorial calls cannot be biased or plain wrong. Or even that so-called ATGs have no blemishes, which flatly doesn't square with reality.
Ricky Ponting could rightly be dropped in India for the entirety of his career with the possible result of AUS improving their record in that country. Would that have negated his claim as an ATG? Because in hindsight, choosing him for matches in India was a terrible call and according to your criteria, this terrible call contributes to his claim as an ATG.

We could assume that Jadeja was picked for all those overseas matches in the last 5 years where he wasn't injured and not picked, contribute almost nothing(which isn't fair tbh) and yet return with an impressive record. On the contrary, one could even argue that if he was picked, he would adjust to the conditions quicker and perform even better.
He record during this period also stretches across 4 continents (Asia, Europe, America and Down under), so it isn't as if he had a brief purple patch in 1-2 matches.

No matter what his record (and it is pretty good), isn't it strange that there are times where he is not firstish chosen? It is possibly a weird consequence of team balance, but what other ATG players were not automatic picks for their country?
He is an ATG who is at the mercy of team balance. With all other ATGs I can think of, the team balance was constructed around them.

I would say it is strange as well as stupid. The team management has been dumb in the past, but have woken up for good now. I don't see a situation in the future where he isn't an auto-pick. In fact makes this team lineup overseas on batting alone. He is well on his way to correcting the skewed home/away matches ratio.

Another strange take that valorizes the lack of option other teams might have to accommodate a so-called ATG instead of actual performance.
Aus accommodating Ponting on tours of India because they had nobody better cannot be furnished as an argument to burnish his credentials as an ATG.

Will Ricky Ponting make the Australia ATG team at 3 ahead of Don Bradman? But he is still an ATG.
Make-up of the team in green tracks demand just one spinner or no spinner. While I would have still chosen Jadeja every single time, the selectors went for another ATG in Ashwin in his place and have just woken up to the fact of Sir Jaddu.
While I agree with the bolded part, Jadeja demands discussion when the ATG team balance requires his role.

That’s a team management/selection failure.
There were times early on where he was meme sure, but in the last 5-6 years or so he’s been incredible. Even accounting for “we didn’t realise until X time”, they’ve ****ed it up and wasted Jadeja’s prime picking someone else instead at times (who have proven to be crap over a period of time - in ODIs/T20s it’s been the Kulcha experiment. In tests it’s usually Ashwin overseas but Jadeja is just as effective, contributes way more on the field and is a better bat albeit doesn’t have the 100s).
Certainly now he’s unstoppable. But if they do drop him again in this form then they’re stupid.
