Yeah, I hate United, but in the end, this is about the only thing that will get any notice, fair play to them.

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, I did think that a lot of those good folks had figured that pissing around on the Old Trafford pitch was more fun than whatever else they might be doing on a Sunday afternoon, irrespective of how much they actually knew about the Glazers. And some of the outrage does seem to stem from people unable to cope with Man Utd not being the dominant force that they were. I'd include Neville and Keane in that particular group. And when precisely have these clubs belonged to 'the people' anyway?

I'll get my coat ....

The Glazers take over and running of the club is a scandal, but whether they'll be forced out by a couple of hundred rioters I rather doubt.

No-ones going to argue that there are some decent points there, but in the end, the fans need to keep pressing on this, if you have owners that want a franchise, and don't want promotion or relegation, they are in the wrong League, and they should leave it. It's a fundamental point, it's the fundamental point, **** them all, and these people may be drunken scallies off the set of Shameless, but they aren't letting this **** lie, they aren't just saying hey, we've won now and there's no problems with the ownership, they're ****ing doing something to back a fan-led movement.

God bless them, ****ing ***** that they clearly are.

This doesn’t add up though. United were shite for years under the Glazers, but there were no protests on this scale and Keane and Neville never said a word about them. There’s some sense of perspective about actions that are bad for United specifically. You’re not happy, but it’s part of the game. It’s been our best season since Fergie retired so why would the protests start now?

The catalyst here was a Super League plan that would have ****ed over all of the *other* clubs. Palace, among many others, would quite possibly have gone bankrupt if it had gone through. Neville was very good on this yesterday. He used to think they were just bad owners, but now he realises they’re a genuine threat to the game as a whole.

Tbh this is surely an absolutely textbook example of how effective direct action could be. What more powerful way for fans to assert their role than to basically say "if we really, really don't want there to be a game, then there's no game, and without a game you have no business".

Which makes me think the government will be making sure it won't happen again one way or the other.

I like the conspiracy theory going around that they wanted the match off so that City couldn’t be handed the title by United losing to Liverpool.

The problem for Utd fans protesting their is no obvious practical alternative to the Glazers. The club would cost a mere 4 billion and finding someone who has that money and interest in the game seems unlikely.

Maybe a state looking for some good PR, but pretty sure the Saudis were rejected regarding Newcastle so not sure how many of those would be willing to stump up such a mega sum.

Nah don't really agree, united make money, same as Liverpool, hence why they have American owners, there is never a shortage of buyers for a profit-making business, unlike well Newcastle.

Make the United brand toxic for the Glazers and reckon they'd find a buyer, guess that's the plan.

No need to find a buyer, United are a PLC. They can sell their stake to a million small shareholders.

Wife works in corporate finance and she said if you can’t afford the share value the other option is to buy the debt. Think I saw 445m as an approx value. So in theory you buy the debt and change the terms (if you can) or just call the debt as due to force their hand. No idea if this would work but the likelihood of anyone having money for the debt is low anyway.
