Both Klusener and Flintoff in the same team weakens the team tbh. IIRC Klusener batted at 8 even in 99. Bevan instead of one of the two makes more senseSachin

Klusener was as good as a specialist bat and one of the few batsman of the 90s who was good at both constructing a partnership as well as hoicking sixes. Both Klusener and Flintoff in the same team weakens the team tbh. Even Hussey
He'd have got in any ODI team in his day. It's not a looking back thing. On CW circa 06 the feeling was that he was overrated in Tests (he wasn't but that's another story) but a legit world-class ODI all-rounder.Cannot believe the love Flintoff gets as an ODI player. Truly over rated by a lot on here.
Kapil Dev is the solution.Klusener was as good as a specialist bat and one of the few batsman of the 90s who was good at both constructing a partnership as well as hoicking sixes.
If I replace one of them with Bevan , it will reduce the bowling strength by a considerable margin
Honestly this is one too many bowlers. Drop Flintoff and pick someone to bat 6 and you have a great side. I'd pick Garner over Starc though.Sachin

ATVG bowler, with a lot of lift, which typically is a pretty easy marker for the best quicks in any era.Cannot believe the love Flintoff gets as an ODI player. Truly over rated by a lot on here.
Or you can actually use them intelligently and have MSD keep for spinners and Gilly for seamers. Also you can pick both Gilchrist and Dhoni if you want and put one on fine leg
Preferably Dhoni
Incidentally each of those 5 made it to ATG ODI XI voted by CWers.Fifty Years Of One-Day International Cricket

Thoughts?
The trouble with Flintoff is that he was best batting no 5 in ODIs where he was very good (53 matches) but he keeps getting picked at no 7 in these atg teams. That is like picking Shakib, Stokes, or Cairns at 7 when they batted higher.ATVG bowler, with a lot of lift, which typically is a pretty easy marker for the best quicks in any era.
Super handy bat.
I am never putting him im my atg team, because I think there are better ways to fine-tune the balance, but I think there he is arguably a better player than guys i would stick in my atg team.
Flintoff was really, really good for about 2 years but other than that, meh. Around 2004 he was one of the best ODI bats in the world, batted no. 4 for England IIRC.He'd have got in any ODI team in his day. It's not a looking back thing. On CW circa 06 the feeling was that he was overrated in Tests (he wasn't but that's another story) but a legit world-class ODI all-rounder.
I guess his 07 WC goes against him and maybe he doesn't hit the heights for long enough to be considered an ODI ATG. But he was fantastic in the format.
Big brain cricketOr you can actually use them intelligently and have MSD keep for spinners and Gilly for seamers.
He is the bowler with most competitors. McGrath and Pollock mainly and the former is a better bowler and latter the better player. Also Ambrose and Hadlee are not far behind too.Would probably add Garner to that list too.
This is good except Lee >> Malinga; Klusener >> Harris; Jayasuriya / Sharma / Watson >>> Hayden as players. Then Saqlain > Warne in ODIs.Glad someone identifying the greatness of Brett Lee

You start out ok, but Hayden was a better batsman than Watson and Jayasuriya and adjusting for era is on a par with Rohit. And saying that anyone was a better spinner than the only spinner who bowled their team to a world cup is a little absurd. This is good except Lee >> Malinga; Klusener >> Harris; Jayasuriya / Sharma / Watson >>> Hayden as players. You can put anyway you like but Saqlain was abetter ODI spinner than Warne. You start out ok, but Hayden was a better batsman than Watson and Jayasuriya and adjusting for era is on a par with Rohit. Hayden may be a better batsman, but Watson is the better player, ditto Jayasuriya. You start out ok, but Hayden was a better batsman than Watson and Jayasuriya and adjusting for era is on a par with Rohit. And saying that anyone was a better spinner than the only spinner who bowled their team to a world cup is a little absurd.
Hayden destroys Jayasuriya as a batsman.Hayden had a SR of 79 in an era where scoring rates began to rise quickly. Would barely make a top 5 australian openers list. Not fit to lace Jayasuriya/Rohit's boots.
