Who is the greatest ODI bowler of all time?

Ashwinashwath

School Boy/Girl Captain

Nice analysis by Ananth Narayan. He takes may facets of the performances in to action. McGratb being #1 is a non shocker for me. However few important things are apparent.

1. Places of Brett Lee, Jhonson and Mitchell Starc, very high in the list. No wonder Aussies had a gun attack 2000 - 2010 period with at least three of above four playing.
2. Rashid Khan's ranking!
3. Warne was never the second best ODI spinner
4. Why Sri Lanka is struggling big time. Murali (#2), Vaas (#7), Malinga (#19) and Mendis (#23) all played for a good chunk of time, and possibly marks one of the best ever ODI bowling attacks.

There is the trinity of pacers of Mcgrath, Wasim and Garner. Anyone else should not be considered.

McGrath - Immaculate control and ultimate World Cup champion record.

Wasim - Simply the most versatile bowler in ODI history, ideally suited to any pitch and any stage of the game, best control of reverse

Garner - The hardest conceivable bowler to hit or get away, perhaps the best death stage bowler ever

That may well be the case, though afaik he’s not actively made statements one way or the other. He’s a hill billy so may well be a Nats voter. Does good charity stuff Tbf, so gets a pass for that. And also, he actually delivered. Lee is a myth. If he was born brunette or in an era where he couldn’t be carried as much, he’d have played barely half as often
What does his hair color has to do with his bowling? His stats are way better than any Australian bowlers except Mcgrath. He could be expensive in death overs but was amazing with the new ball. Troubled Sachin a lot.

I just perused the original article and his articles on the best innings and best bowling performances of all time and holy crap are his systems horrible.

Ponting's world cup finals innings in 2003 was not in the top 20. Nor was Warne's bowling performances in the semi finals and finals in 1999. Yet performances by Watson against Bangladesh in a JAMODI are in there? Holy bad take Batman.
Probably because he was out on 46.

Fun fact: Toward the end of the innings Martyn was having a crack at Ponting for keeping on hitting 2s so Martyn couldn't get any strike to get to 100. You can hear it on the stump mic, he wasn't joking either
