Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Give them some time and Yuvi and Yusuf Pathan could still hack it in the IPL or a lesser t20 league. Overall a pretty enjoyable tournament. I read that Mahela, Sanga and Malinga will be a part of this next year for SL which should make them stronger.

It looked like Sachin needed a moment to remember the cause they were playing for at the end there.

If Mahela, Sanga, Malinga play for SL legends then Kohli should retire and play for India legends

If they all play for SL and if Ponting, Gilchrist, Warne and Mcgrath play for Australia and India play the same team, this series can garner much more audience than a current international series.

Like I posted in the other thread, really surprised by the quality of this game. The bowling/batting from both the sides was quality and the pitch had plenty of bounce. I think this should be a regular thing.

Fun fact:
Apart from being in the 50 over WC winning squad, Yusuf has been in the winning XI of the:
inaugural T20 WC final,
inaugural IPL final(MoM) + other IPL finals
inaugural Road Safety World Series(MoM)

Listened to the Grigoryan Brothers, classical guitar duo, perform their composition "Don's Bat" the other night.

Inspired by the bat Bradman used in the 1934 Trent Bridge test

Pietersen said yesterday on a talk show with Naseer and Key on Sky sports that series against NZ doesn't matter and we should keep our players fit for India series, WT20 and Ashes.
Also he can't remember any runs he scored against NZ.?

Another excellent post on Charles Davis' Blog.

I was inspired to do this by a comment from Benedict that Ishant Sharma seems to take an inordinate time to get through his overs. And sure enough, guess who tops the list of 67 'slowest' bowlers, and by a significant margin.

These are only for recent matches in England.

Bowler minutes per over

Slowest
I Sharma 5.56
ST Gabriel 5.07
MA Starc 5.03
JL Pattinson 4.98
JJ Bumrah 4.90
AA Nortje 4.85
MA Wood 4.83
PJ Cummins 4.80
JR Hazlewood 4.69
Shaheen Shah Afridi 4.65

Quickest
NM Lyon 3.50
S Nadeem 3.45
RL Chase 3.41
Yasir Shah 3.39
RRS Cornwall 3.34
JE Root 3.34
KA Maharaj 3.31
R Ashwin 3.23
JL Denly 3.21
AR Patel 3.17

All overs
4.43
Standard uninterrupted overs
4.16
Standard uninterrupted maidens
3.53
Overs with 10 or more runs
4.75
Over + Drinks
7.52
Overs with Review(s)
5.92
Injury
8.13
1 wicket falling
5.83
2 wickets falling
8.10
Standard pace
4.53
Standard spin
3.53

(It inserted as a table and I'm not bothered to fix it)

One thing I'd note is how slow spinners are - previously they would have been expected to get though an over in more like 2.6-8 minutes on average and a maiden in as little as 1.5 or so.

Surprised at Bumrah's presence as he runs significantly less far than the others.

Can't comment much based on such a small sample size IMO

The comment was already made based on his entire career. The numbers recorded were a response to that and seem to back up the original comment. This isn't a scientific analysis and it isn't going to be used for anything that matters, it's just a little observation, sample size doesn't really matter.
