Yep. Just no consistency, nowhere near enough balls in the right area, his line has been all over the show, too many overpitched deliveries. That’s not to say he can’t still have a big influence on this innings if he removes Rohit, Pant and/or Ashwin, he can’t produce the odd beauty but it’s no wonder Root doesn’t appear to have a huge amount of faith in him.

I'd have Devdutt on reserve for Gill if he fails in the first couple of games. No point going back to Agarwal and Shaw anytime soon. Maybe get them, Kohli and Rahane all to play county cricket somehow.

fair point I think it’s fair to say the batting from both sides has been poor Rohit probably the difference between the two sides batting wise last few games

Also, I'm going to go ahead and say that England batted better than India for most of this Test series (except 2nd Chennai Test). India have just bowled a LOT better.

WTF have I just read in this thread

and @Spark that was a poor shot there by Rahane. When you are in at 27 and have seen the bowler bowl 4 or 5 outswingers in a row and you are still poking outside off with a ball or two to go for lunch.

Rahane has always played jammy shots early in his innings but his defence is absolutely shot right now. A moderate upgrade of YJB for us as of now. I hope he goes away and plays some county to get back his defence.
