How would that demonstrate that the first innings par total was 175-200 ?
It’s called “reality”

When the ball is taking chunks out of the pitch within an hour and Kohli gets bowled by a ball that spun a foot, you’re pushing it uphill

The pitch is dry and only getting drier

It started out bad and will only get worse

Hardly rocket science

Watch the game

England were done well before Rohit got out

I am Australian and don’t actually care who wins

England didn’t have a prayer once Rohit got a ton

One of the best innings in recent history
It means either you don't understand a thing about cricket or simply didn't watch it at all when Pant was stepping out at will and depositing spinners over long off for fun. He hardly looked perturbed at any point in his innings and was even farming the strike effortlessly.

England batted in roughly same conditions and didn't last two sessions.

And then India came in and once again looked largely cruising.

But where do you draw the line? Are wide cracks on the pitch that assist bowlers and also injure the batsmen at times OK? A green pitch on which a team can get bowled out in a session(if they are unlucky) and on which even ordinary bowlers would look like Malcolm Marshall OK? Why do we only have a problem with rank turners? I would take rank turners over the pitch in the first test where there was nothing for the bowlers for the first two days. England would have won the first match regardless because they were simply better. But both the teams have a level-playing field when the pitch is offering turn from Day 1.

Also, every batsmen that has applied himself and tried to counter the spin with foot movement has been able to score runs on this pitch. Foakes looked totally comfortable when he was batting, so did Sharma, Pant, Rahane and even Pujara who was try to play differently because of the surface. Kohli got out to a peach, but don't we have these deliveries with massive swing or seam movement that get the batsmen out in away conditions? Or one of those that hit the crack move in any direction viciously.

Thanks for proving my point

Rohit was plumb lbw, got hit in the head by a spinner but “cruising”

Stop being so precious

Your team is winning so you should be happy

I see you have nothing to speak about Pant then ?

Not to mention both keepers didn't let a bye through in first 150 odd overs of the match ?

Lol about Rohit lbw which has got nothing to do with the pitch and just misjudgement from the batsman.

Not sure why this discussion on tosses in India keeps popping up every so often. It shouldn't be too difficult to find the numbers on this.

Since Jan 2000 (just an arbitrary starting point), teams which have won the toss have lost 38 matches, won 35 matches and drawn 27 matches. Since Jan 2010, this is 22 losses, 22 wins and 9 draws. Since 2010 excluding India as the team winning the toss, teams which won the toss have lost 19 matches, won 3 matches and drawn 6 matches. If you go by teams batting first and ignore the toss result, teams (excluding India) have lost 20, won 3 and drawn 6 matches.

Pant started slogging as there was no other way

Gill did the same

They are 2 of the best young players in world cricket

The pitch is a disgrace

Again, nobody is saying that India don’t deserve to be well ahead but look at the reactions from around the world

I don’t think Kohli should declare. I don’t think rain is on the card so bat as long as you can, whether it’s half a session or a whole day.

World should learn to play spin bowling. Just because certain countries are completely inept at playing spin doesn't mean spin friendly pitch is bad.
Hate to break it to you but India’s recent record against spin is awful

First 2 matches have been decided by the toss and this pitch is awful

Basically one who is as trigger happy as Pant schooled "the world" in how to play on spinning pitches

There was superlative skill I'm choosing which balls to go down and slog, and most importantly which bowlers to slog.

Pant hit 6 sixes off the 30 odd balls Leach bowled to him wasn't madness. It was perfect execution of a great plan.

So admire.it and stop whingeing.

You guys defending against the toss being a factor need to shut the **** up. You complain about the toss being a factor when you are getting your ass handed to you - not when you are handing ass. Trying to preserve the legitimacy of your win, by dispelling the myth of the toss, just makes you come across as big douches.
