Yep agreed, but you have Pollard in his prime, Darren Bravo etc. Can't see them being beaten in this tournament.Perhaps a bit long in the tooth that side, but strong nethertheless
Absolutely. Just hope they go the right way bowling wise, would far rather see Jayden Seales than Rayad Emrit for exampleYep agreed, but you have Pollard in his prime, Darren Bravo etc. Can't see them being beaten in this tournament.
IMHO he has a serious chance of making the T20 team. Tests not so much, we have loads of excellent pace bowling options, we need batsmen!Fidel Edwards, aged 39 and still bowling 145k+, wants to represent the WI at the T20 WC. Is also considering 50 over and FC cricket too. The last mentioned just an indirect way of saying he wants to play tests again imo. If he does he might beat Bobby Simpson's effort of years between tests.
What I like most is that it doesn't look like a fluke at all. He looks like he can do this regularly.Alzarri Joseph first 18 innings: 143 runs @ 7.94 with a highest score of 34
Next 5 innings:192 runs @ 38.4 with 2 half-centuries and 2 ducks (0, 86, 0, 24, 82)
He's had this potential of making runs for a while now, but his application was all wrong...probably because he felt that he need to bat like a tailender. In a recent interview, he did say that he was working hard on his batting and that he is more mindful of match situations now. His technique is solid. He can pass as a batsman now, in my opinion. What I like most is that it doesn't look like a fluke at all. He looks like he can do this regularly.
He does need to work on his patience when he gets to 80 though. He lost the plot both in NZ and here.
I like Romario alot. He needs more A team opportunities. He's had this potential of making runs for a while now, but his application was all wrong...probably because he felt that he need to bat like a tailender. Another guy to look out for is Romario Shepherd. He is a genuine all-rounder. Can bat like a batsman and bowl like a bowler.
I don't know where Keemo Paul fits in here.
Yeah, our top order is a bit unstable. Campbell is being complacent most of the time. His ceiling is in the 40s and nothing more...it'd be great if he could have sustained a 40+ average lol.Separately, now that the top order have failed yet again, we can discuss the team for the next series.
The big question will be the opening slot imho. There are now plenty of middle options but the openers still suck.
Kraigg will keep his place as a reward for loyalty and some recent signs he is regaining form.
Campbell is in trouble though. It just doesn't look like he can get past 30/40 and play a substantial innings. He will get himself out sweeping almost like clockwork.
Now our selectors are really awful and so conservative, only drop outs gave Bonner and Mayers a chance. Therefore he might get another chance, especially as Mosely did not look test class.
But realistically, they need to experiment with a middle order batsman at the top IMHO.
I would go with Hety personally but let's see what they do.
I'm completely on the same page.Yeah, our top order is a bit unstable. Campbell is being complacent most of the time. His ceiling is in the 40s and nothing more...it'd be great if he could have sustained a 40+ average lol.
Moseley needs to go in the nets and work on his technique. Playing tests should boost his confidence and give him an appetite for run-scoring. Hetmyer needs to open with Brathwaite. Period.
Pooran fits in the middle order. Da Silva can play as a specialist batsman if necesssary.
He claims to have taken 1000 wickets in all the different leagues he's played in around the world, although many think it's a dodgy claim!I like Romario alot. He needs more A team opportunities.
First I am hearing of this...you got a source? He claims to have taken 1000 wickets in all the different leagues he's played in around the world, although many think it's a dodgy claim!

This is football centric. No mention of Shepherd.Soccer-Romario ready to celebrate 1000th goal despite scepticism
Romario, one of the football's great penalty area poachers, could score his 1,000th goal this week and in doing so will leave the statisticians as perplexed as the hapless defenders who have tried to mark him.www.reuters.com
I'd be a bit more cautious placing Pooran up in the order. I think he fits nicely in the middle order. Swap him with Mayers or Bonnor.I'm completely on the same page.
My team for Sri Lanka:
Braithwaite
Hetmeyer
Pooran
Bonner
Mayers
Blackwood
Da Silva (wk)
Holder (c)
Cornwall
Roach/Joseph
Gabriel
I would be excited about that batting lineup. If they bring back Chase, Bravo and Brooks it will just feel like same old.
As long as Chase isnt picked I don't mind!I'd be a bit more cautious placing Pooran up in the order. I think he fits nicely in the middle order. Swap him with Mayers or Bonnor.
