England will be extra cautious in their declaration I would think given the presence of Pant in the opposition. Plus first test of series.

It is really why I feel they should have gone for broke IMO. The more I think about it, the more I feel they could have gone for the FO. Its very probable India only get better and better from this first innings, both with bat and ball.

From a potential prodigy to a meme and now a seasoned bowler. Ishant has had an interesting journey.

Coz India are not gonna score 250 odd in 3 sessions when batting for a draw. Its what the follow on does, it does not give you hope of winning when it is already only 5 sessions left in the game. Right now, they are gonna leave the door slightly open for India for a 4th innings chase.
You can't assume that at all, especially given what we have seen in this match. The lead was not big enough for England to be able to bowl at India for 5 sessions and not have them go past them, much better to do the batting bit first and the bowling bit later.

Helps having Root in such good form and that Stokes is in now and Buttler to come as we will score quickly now whatever.

What I mean here is that if they cant bowl them out for 250 in these conditions over these 4 sessions (2 sessions today and 2 tomorrow) they are not gonna be able to do it suddenly tomorrow either. I mean they may well surprise here but the likelihood of them losing after following on was much lesser than their chances of losing now, IMO.

Need another 150 I think from here.
I think so - I'd take a lead of 450. Mind you, a couple of key wickets now and we're setting about 100 less than that.
Agnew was saying on 5Live that England should declare soon after tea with a lead of 400. I don't see that happening. I suppose there's a tendency to be more nervous about declaring if you're scoring relatively comfortably.

Dont think he has forgot the criticism over that declaration against the west indies either.

chanducheers on cricbuzz: Poor from Kohli..Root was constantly targeting the vacant mid wicket region by sweeping the bowlers. Still Kohli have not placed a fielder..Root scored three boundaries in that region till now using his favourite sweep shot..Kohli should be bit more cautious or else we all know what Root can.

Who is chanducheers? I am sure he is from cricketweb. Also, he is right!

Is this the first time anyone's actually managed to dominate Ashwin with the sweep? Would like to see how he responds in the next test. Root even reverse swept him once off a goodish length ball with bounced quite high. Amazing batting.

With the way pitch is doing, I think 250 could be a match winning score here. England can declare now.
