The pronunciation of "Nortje" just makes me wonder why on earth the commentators are talking about a Nokia all the time.

I have not seen a SA team fall apart so easily as I have in recent times. We always used to at least keep fighting even when we went down.
Yeah this is a bit strange to see. Their body language in the field is more like a team that's 130 behind, not 30 behind. It's not as if it's scorching weather either, looks quite pleasant really.

Encouraging to see Faheem's batting improvement. Really strengthens our tail which we have really needed recently.

I just don't think the team is being run well. Across all levels, from selection to captaincy. And the problems at board level are well documented. But the general despondency is not good.

...to be honest it probably fits the mood of the country in general.

Really does make me wonder what's going to happen in March. If there's any team this side should fire up against, it's us, but this is a pretty big gap to close on visible evidence...

Still a level up from SA's last tours to SL and India though. Not all is lost just yet. Rabada has been very good
That's what's weird though. Their objective position on the scoreboard isn't that bad, but they're playing as if Pakistan have 350 on the board already.

QDK probably the biggest cause though. Captain sets the tone and fair to say he isn't exactly firing up his troops right now.

Outside of any injured players, are there any players in South Africa that would make this a better team.

He should not be captain. I did not mind at first for the LO, but it was clear he did not want or expect the captaincy for, particularly for the Tests, so you have to wonder what is going on in the back room that makes them choose him as captain.

Are there any alternative captaincy options for SA? (Elgar as a stop gap maybe?)

I know he's only recently got the gig but de Kock seems like a terrible fit for the role. I know people were joking before the match about how uncomfortable he looks while undertaking all the media duties that come with being captain, but he appears just as lost in the onfield stuff too. I can't imagine he enjoys it very much at all.
