One fifty in six BBL games doesn't show much value.

Five innings. He has a matchwinning 26 in addition to the 65. And then smoked a 5 ball 16 in a 10nover match. Two matches he failed.
Given his value as a fielder and ability to keep, he is good value.

Was saying the Stars big hitting from overs 10-20 was kinda irrelevant due to needing the bash boost point to progress to the finals, and that Sixers may as well sacrifice all 10 wickets trying to get to the 72 after 10 overs due to them only needing one point to be minor premiers

Was just thinking this. How he doesn't get in an 18 man squad that is already depleted by no Test players is beyond me.

Because he's 37, this series is building towards two major tournaments, and I don't think there's a national selection panel anywhere in the world that actually 'gets' how to construct a T20 team?

On the contrary, I think T20 allows for aged players to do their thing. Christian is fit and has invaluable experience Aus can draw upon.

Absolutely should be in that squad.

There aren't many more effective middle-lower order hitters in the BBL than him, even at his age. And he can literally go big from ball one which, when you're batting at seven or so and not facing many balls for the most part, is ****ing invaluable.

The major tournament they're building towards is literally in a few months though. This is when age considerations should be least relevant.

Yeah definitely, but combined with the inability-to-select-good-T20i-teams bit I can see why he'd be nowhere near the selector's radar. Like, it's stunning how bad national selectors are at doing good T20i things.

I mean, the squad has six opening bats again! (Seven if you count Maxwell as an opener, which he probably should be at international level)

Slater made a good point yesterday that Stars should have opened with Maxwell. They definitely missed that trick given they had to take care of the Bonus point first and foremost.
