If there's one thing that players/coaches in general have ****ed up this year it's the Bash Boost point. It's 25% of the points on hand. You should be going for it a lot harder than they have been, treating it like a nice little bonus point that doesn't matter too much has been a massive fail.
Bash Boost Point is extremely stupid though, the broadcasters think players just hitting sixes and fours from ball one throughout the twenty overs is what people want to see. This further devaluates touch players and attacking bowlers in the format.

You make a point, but however what it does do is give sides an extra incentive, especially ones that have had big targets put on them. They could theoretically set their sites on a more realistic 10 over bash boost target to try and get something out of the game. I like it tbh

That's what the Net Run Rates are there for, if you can't chase the original target you make sure you get as close to the target as possible so your NRR doesn't tank.

The Bash Point literally creates scenarios where things can get farcical, the last game between Stars and Sixers... they could have just shaken hands and walked off as soon as Sixers managed to get that Bash point, however if it was down to NRR or just getting points from a win or a loss, the interest in that game would have persisted beyond the 10 over mark as well.

Basically the existence of this stupid bash point validates that being 65-6 at the 10th over is somehow more reward worthy than being 60-0 chasing a target, illogical and absurd. Its totally arbitrary as well, given the floating power surge overs as well.

The year is 2041, the round-robin stage of BBL|13 is nearing the halfway mark. Maybe.

Moises Henriques, now representing the Taren Point Taipains, clips one in the air, due north towards the legside boundary of Moises Henriques Field. Overseas pro Lahiru Thirimanne is at the other end, fresh off scores of 23 and 12 in his latest Test outing.

D'Arcy Short, vice captain of the Launceston Lagoonathans* settles under the simple chance but inexplicably can't get a hand on it. They run two. The Taipains gain one tenth of a point for leading the head-to-head scores at the end of the 13th over. They move up to 95th on the ladder.

"There will be another game tomorrow," thinks Short. There is always another game tomorrow.
