Guptill looks so out of touch, and with his recent run of scores, you'd have to think whether he'll be selected for the Aussie T20s.

Perhaps after this post, he'll start firing.
and not really. At least he got some runs but 29 for 31,yeesh.

Wouldn't surprise me if he played till this t20 World Cup then hung up the boots.
With the depth we have, no reason to carry Guptill I don't think. Looking at his scores, he's only had 1 50+ score in 2 years. Horribly out of touch in T20s.

We should go the Australia route and have a completely separate team from tests

1. Allen
2. Seifert
3. Conway
4. Phillips
5. Chapman
6. Neesham
7. McConchie
8. Santner
9. Tickner
10. Duffy
11. Bennett

12. Mitchell
13. Ravindra
14. Sears
Yeah I kind of agree.

(for this series obv, not the World T20 itself)

Wouldn't surprise me if he played till this T20 World Cup, didn't actually get picked in it because he hadn't made a score in forever, then hung up the boots.

Introducing you both to the Blackcap selectors ...

Nice team. I'm hoping for this:

Seifert +
Allen
Williamson (c)
Conway
Phillips
Neesham
Santner
Jamieson
Southee
Boult
Milne

Munro
Chapman
Sodhi

I'd add in Williamson, Boult, Ferguson etc. for the actual T20 WC, but might as well play some others who have performed well in super smash to see if they have what it takes on the international stage

Yeah I agree. They'll probably pick different teams for each T20 though like they did for the Pakistan series won't they. As it's 5 T20s it gives us plenty of chances to try players out.

I'd love to see us get a North Island and South Island team in the Big Bash.

Yea true

They could run a mini tournament at the end of the Super Smash / Big Bash for the top two in each competition to get a trans-Tasman winner

Could be called the Super Bash or the Big Smash or the Super Big Smash Bash

Would be awesome if we see some sort of Super Rugby-style cricket competition.

That's a good idea too re a mini-tournament.

Here would be my teams for the Big Bash if it were possible, avoiding players that are in and around the Test team in NZ conditions. Struggling to fill the final positions and not picking too many from one team.

North Island (Auckland, ND, Wellington)

1. Finn
2. Seifert +
3. Ravindra
4. Phillips
5. Neesham (De Grandhomme and Mitchell ahead of him)
6. O'Donnell (Rob)
7.
8. Kuggeleijn
9. Sommerville
10. Van Beek
11. Bennett

South Island (CD, Canterbury, Otago)

1. Worker
2. Broom
3. Clarkson
4. McConchie
5. Fletcher +
6. Bracewell
7. Rippon
8. Astle
9.
10. Duffy
11. Tickner

Jaddu's probably ahead of him these days, but Guptill's gotta as good as anyone else in the world in the field.

It does not have to be an either/or though, does it?
Well given the length of the big bash, what would be the point of having a super smash when the top 15-30 players (depending on 1-2 teams) aren't there for the majority of it? And then international players gone as well, it would be so diluted there would be no point.

Either that or they would have to go back to running it in November which IIRC was a disaster.
