DoG's Test Innings and Bowling Performances. Updates thread.

One basic factor to note re: the apparent overrepresentation of the 2000s and 2010s in comparison to previous decades is that there have been a lot more Tests played in the 2000s and 2010s compared to most previous decades. So there would obviously be a much bigger pool of innings to pick from.

Yeah, not only are we seeing more double and tripple hundreds these days, we are also seeing more hattricks. All due to more cricket being played.

Will be good to see where Watling's effort ranks in the list. Thanks in advance DoG :)
12.31 (15.31 before I adjusted the system).

BJ Watling 10.00+ performances

142* vs. Sri Lanka at Wellington 2015 12.35
205 vs. England at Mount Maunganui 2019 12.31
120 vs. England at Leeds 2015 10.41
124 vs. India at Wellington 2014 10.29

Only averaged 33 or something this series but it was HUGE.

Some twatty poster 20 years on will for sure bring it up as "not a great series".
Seriously, Pujara was easily one of the main differences between the two teams. Ground down Australia's vaunted attack which left them vulnerable for later assaults from the rest of the batting lineup.

Ajaz Patel's 10-119 is 48th on the all-time test bowling performances list. He is second to Hugh Tayfield's 7-23 against Australia for bowlers whose team went on to lose the match.

Thanks for this

I know your list isn’t the be all and end all, but good to see something showing that while it was a great performance, it wasn’t otherworldly.
The other two 10-fers have an argument for being that.

Ajaz’s performance was great, it was not otherworldly.

With Broad and Harbhajan, shows they had great peaks and troughs as expected.
