Brisbane is usually roady. I like this pitch though, can't ask for more than a certain result wicket with 369 playing 330 in the first innings. Now starting to play some tricks.

But it's hard to assess pitches. Maybe the pitch where Cook and Strauss racked up 517/1 had the exact same characteristics, they just batted better and Australia bowled poorly. We called that one a road though.

That was extremely flat but it definitely wasn't that flat. I don't know if there's such a thing as a 1/500 pitch.

The pace of this pitch has seemed pretty inconsistent to me throughout, which has meant it's a little less roady than it looks IMO. The bounce was reasonably consistent until today, but some balls have been flying through and some seemed much more tennis-bally even when they were bouncing the same. Brisbane's usually a bit more consistent on Days 2-4.

I recall arriving in the UK, having left with Aus heavily favoured to win that test, then checking the score and being unpleasantly surprised.

Then watched the day one adelaide debacle whilst otherwise occupied in a Leeds hotel room.

Mitchell Johnson was struggling to hit the pitch. Man it has almost been a decade since sure doesn't feel like it though

Groundsman was saying on radio it was a bit different to usual owing to both the later scheduling and the fact it had so much footy traffic on it last season. The latter surprised me as a factor so long after the season ended, but I guess he would know
