I dont think he has felt this kind of pressure probably ever in his career in Aus.
I don't know about that tbh. He's barely been hit at all, aside from Pant a few times in Sydney, and those after he had him dropped. He's going at <3 an over and has had half a dozen catches dropped over the series. If that's the most pressure he's been under in his career here, he's led a charmed life.

I definitely feel like Lyon hasn't been at his best, not putting quite enough energy in his action, but it isn't like he's had an absolute disasterous series like some are implying

Spark etc have pointed this out before - but that's how fine the margins are at International cricket. Lyon's bowled some great spells this series, but he's been slightly off his best in a couple of sessions, had some dropped catches, and is now averaging like 60 for the series.

Given how low scoring matches have been generally this series, Lyon's avg and SR stand out even more starkly.

I have always admired him for his tenacity and underrated skill. It is not easy to average 30 for a finger spinner in Australia regardless of the support structure he has. But it seems the vagaries of age have started acting on his play. As always it is hardly discernible, a slight stiffness in upper body action there, or slight reduction in his flight and dip here. But I am afraid GOAT is on his final descent.

What are we betting on Harris?

Ordinarily I would say he'll get **** all, drop catches a la Headingly and have a quantifiably negative impact on the game. But, the man is such a carcinoma on Australian cricket that I've a feeling he will find a way to make a decent score against a depleted attack, sadly sufficient to retain a spot in or around the squad for the next year or so on the back of the likely innings win. I hope I'm mistaken and he fails, but I have a bad feeling about this

Yeah Harris and Wade will both make lame second innings tons here that keep better players out of the first couple of Tests in South Africa.

Yeah I think the little fella has been banging on repeatedly in that earnest, mind-numbing way he does about the lack of proper FC prep and how it contributes to soft tissue injuries and even getting hit more often than normal.

It might just be he's getting his one decent point for the year out of the way early for 2021.

TBH, he has a point. Playing a full season over so much time when everyone knew the lockdowns had been happening and no one was sure how these athletes' bodies will react to the workload fluctuations. I think he was making an earnest point too, not trying to score any brownie points.

Elite Honesty, perhaps.
Ishant got hurt training during the IPL after 1 game, and Rohit got hurt in the IPL and so joined the squad late. So that's 2 IPL injuries.

Could argue Umesh and Bumrah were overworked due to IPL as well.

Shami, Pant, Lokesh, Jadeja and Agarwal all copped external blows during matches/training on this tour.

I do appreciate Wade for doing the team thing and going up to open, but it has unfortunately bought him more time to be generally underwhelming in the middle order

Harris back in and Wade in the middle is the least appealing option by quite a way of all they could have done

Some of the injuries have obviously been unlucky and unavoidable - impact injuries especially - but soft tissues injuries are pretty typical signs of a lack of conditioning. It's not a huge surprise in that sense.
Even impact injuries aren't necessarily always unavoidable. Certain failures of technique make them a lot more likely.
