From memory, Rohit (or maybe somebody else) used the "wait until you come to India" line when things weren't going well for them on a previous tour and (rightly) got absolutely panned for it. Same thing here. Win the game in front of you ffs.
He said that to Dale Steyn, of all people, who had famously blasted away India a few times. In India.

Steyn's riposte was ATG tier though.

Kohli said it to Warner here in the series when Clarke made 300 at Sydney.

Whatever it takes!!!

"In the end, Australia were sledging them about what might happen next week. As far as mental disintegration goes, it was very much of the 'wait until dad gets home' oeuvre. Australia were sledging them for the future because they'd been beaten in the present. "
Love Kimber's writing.

It seemed a more relevant example given it involved the two teams playing here. It got a lot of laughs at the time for being so cringeworthy.

Yeah Kohli had a lot of problems with the crowds that series IIRC? Certainly he seemed mentally unprepared for the hostile reception he got.

I thought it was Kohli. Wouldn't surprise me if it was Gambhir though, having said that.

Regardless of who said it it's an incredibly beta thing to say. Very disappointed in Paine but I had a feeling he wasn't as tough as he made out.

Is there anything backing this ? Memories at your age can be funny you know.
Yeah absolutely. Why don't you look it up, or are your search settings such that you can only retrieve data from historical matches India didn't lose, so that tissue paper thin skin of yours doesn't get bruised up?

Warner laughed about it at the presser the night it was said. At the time the score was like 4 for 9,763,428 or something, so it was an odd thing to say at the time.

TBH it's always a lame thing to say.
