Yeah the 2011 series was basically Tendulkar show. But for him India had no chance avoiding a 3-0.
This one is just a bit more special given the circumstances. This was basically pick the fittest among the remaining selection and more diversified effort.

No I'm being serious. He's a bowler who bowls good spells, but just doesn't maintain pressure very well. Also finds it difficult to bowl to a plan

2011 Cape Town was a great draw but a bit tempered by the disappointment that we couldn't drive home a potential winning position (I think they were effectively 90/6 at one stage and recovered to set 340). Here we were always behind after day 2 lunch and injuries made things harder.

Considering:
a) the 36ao earlier in the series
b) players being injured before the start of the series, before the test began and during the test
c) facing the best bowling quartet of the century and
d) the fact that India were never ahead in the game
This has to be right up there.
But perhaps the most impressive stat is India batting for 131 overs with Pujara (expected of him), Pant, Vihari and Ashwin was something no one possibly anticipated at end of day 4.

He gets a lot of flak for his keeping, and deservedly so, but he's the most exciting young batting talent I've seen from India in a long time. He bats for a couple of hours and you can bet the game has positively sprinted forward. That's a rare gift at Test level and he's done it more often than people give him credit for. Still only 23 and I'm pretty certain he'll transition into a full-time batting role soon; very lucky to have him.

That 2011 test match was a lost opportunity of the highest order. India was in driver's seat all along until Kallis played an ATG innings. There is a sense of disappointment associated with that result.
This one though is of epic proportions. With all the injuries and a nothing tail to follow, we were down and out all the time. A show of true character which will be spoken about in the years to come. 3 players (Vihari, Ashwin and Pant) played arguably their best test match knock ever so far. And Pujara showed why exactly he is better at what he is best in doing and not so much on what some commentators feel he should be doing.
There is no comparison between these 2 draws I am afraid.

Bruh that was a defensive dhoni special and an extremely disappointing result. We should have won that game.

He could have been an ATG had he been an Aussie. His batting is perfectly suited for these pitches. Imagine him dining on visiting Pak, SL and NZ attacks.

His first spell was so innocuous and lifeless that it made me think for the first time India could bat it out.
But with his final spell bowling around the wicket he was so dangerous and lethal. I've seen him win a Test for Oz with bowling like that on the final afternoon (Pakistan @ MCG in 2016) and if Paine had taken that chance wouldn't have put it past him to rip through the rest of the lineup.
