Indian players racially abused at SCG

filmed by the guys doing it. of course they're not gonna film themselves yelling racist stuff.

that's not to confirm they did, but likely very selective evidence imo. if all they were yelling was give us a wave, im sure he would have behaved like a sane person and waved.
Hey, I was ready to jump on Australia for this kind of ****, it’s not cool at all. But we’ve already got people from different sections of that crowd coming out and saying there wasn’t anything racist said.

which is why we should wait for the investigation, siraj's side of the story, and whatever any security staff nearby heard.
Didnt wait to kick them out on live televison in front of the whole country. If I were them I wouldn't be letting this go.

I think the investigation has already been dropped

Has it been reported what they supposedly said?
Saw some screenshot conversations from one of the blokes who got ejected.

Claims to have just said Shiraz once or so. Mostly a ton of dribble sledging after Siraj got smoked

From the guys who got kicked out suggest otherwise
?

Sean Carroll, Cricket Australia's Head of Integrity and Security, said the allegations made by the Indian team would be investigated by the board alongside the police.

"The abuse of cricketers by crowd members is not acceptable," Carroll said. "We thank the Indian team for their vigilance in reporting today's incident, which we are now in the process of investigating.

"While we await the outcome of the investigation by NSW Police, CA has launched its own inquiry into the matter. It is most regrettable that an otherwise excellent Test match contested in tremendous spirit by two friendly rivals has been tarnished by the actions of a small number of spectators over the past two days. As hosts, we once again apologise to the Indian team."

how is "wait for the investigation" equal to "letting it go"?
No, I'm saying if I were the people being accused I wouldn't just be letting it go. I'd be trying to take action against whoever decided it was ok to paint me as a racist being kicked out of a venue surrounded by security and police in front of the whole country without a shred of evidence.

(or who knows maybe I would let it go because I'm a *****)

yes, punish siraj for reporting what he believed was racist abuse. what a great idea that definitely won't give free license to every shithead to come up with utter garbage to spew at the cricket.

Does Shiraz mean anything other than the wine?

Seems a total misunderstanding rather than racial abuse. Heck half the players we talk about on CW have rubbish jokey nicknames like this.

I'd hate for any non-kiwi bloke to imagine one of my beloved shite nicknames is meant with any ill intent, dull word play is just quite fun and baseline schoolboy humour.

I didn't even imply that. Listen to what I'm saying. I'm saying potentially take action against the broadcaster/SCG or whoever decided it was ok to kick them out with no evidence and stream it live to the whole country with the implication they are racists. All the player did was report it to the umpire.

Well what course of events was supposed to happen? The umpire tell Siraj that it's probably because of all his "whining" and to play on?

(too soon?)

Still wondering what's been niggling in the background if this ends up being confirmed as having caused the snap, not just in the last few days.

Yeah look i don't have an answer to this. I think the umpires and the staff at the ground were put in a very tough spot. Probably had to kick them out to be seen doing something about it and just to get play to continue. Either way someone would feel an injustice has been done.

Whatever it takes!!!
Key here is to understand what was done after the first report was made, which was apparently yesterday. We need to learn what was said then and whether it was conveyed to the specatators at that stand that something they said was not acceptable. There very well may have been communication barriers and what was intended and what was perceived may well be the difference. But without the full story, just going by what looks like an obvious orchestrated feedback from a certain bunch is not ideal.
