I think its quite clear that batsmen don't know when they have or have not hit it. Another thing that DRS has shown.
Nah in that case he's hit his pad really quite hard almost simultaneously and that's both why it sounded strange and why he thought that was what he'd hit. It's a fair enough review IMO, I think most batsmen would review in that circumstance.

That was actually closer than I thought and it was still missing by a mile. That's two this innings given hit on the thigh ffs.

Don't disagree. But it is clear that batsmen can't always tell when they have or have not edged it, for various reasons, even when it seems pretty clear to the rest of us.
