3rd Test at the SCG, Sydney, 7 Jan - 11 Jan 2021

Oversimplication imo. No one expects him to go full postal, rather just be better at rotating strike at least, quick single meme notwithstanding. Or be more proactive in dispatching the rank half-volleys. Instead it feels like his responsibility to the scoreboard ends as soon as he deadbats the ball. Sure, his approach would be great if the opponent was Boycott's England, but it is a handicap when the other team is making all the batting plays and have bowling as disciplined as this. Look at his dismissals to Cummins this series; batted more than 100 deliveries on at least three occasions but kept getting out to unplayables. Where are the returns for all that time spent in the middle? The field remains in and the scoreboard stays comatose. Is it not the no.3's job to take care of those things also and make things easier for the guys below?

Noone's calling for his head ftr. We've grown used to his style and it pays off against lesser attacks once he wears them down. It's just not going to work this series.

And yes, would love to see him stonewall his way to a draw here. Different situation, different demands.

Risky game from Rohit - positivity is a massive bonus if India are still 0 down at the close and have a good first session tomorrow - Australia not as able to solely go full out attack if an India win is still a possibility albeit slim. Get out soon though and questions will start again about Rohit as a Test opener away from home.

Rohit and Gill put on the highest opening partnership of the Test series so far, and literally 1 ball later Gill falls.

Hopefully no more wickets today. C'mon Che Pu.
