In Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2005 (Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 outside AUS), they had a mechanic where the fast bowlers were, you know, quicker and harder to play than the medium fast bowlers. Craig White was in this category. This is my only memory of him
yesssss this game

the best way to beat your mates on 2 player was to put it on test difficulty and choose pakistan. the actual quality of the players didn't matter, all that mattered was getting your hands on guys who could bowl 150 clicks and doosras. shoiab 164kph thunderbolts, sami, broken razzq bowling 150 as 'right arm medium', saqlain and then afridi coz eh. winning combination.

was indicted for spot fixing during the 2013 BPL, served some time out of the game, and has been meh in domestix since. He's 36 now and still playing though. Hit a couple of fifties earlier this year and a 150* in a FC game in Oct 2019.
I saw him play last year lol. Was really really crap and getting outbatted by random Singaporean club cricketers.

I wasn't following Australia ODI cricket around 2012, so it seems I missed out on the entirety of Forrest's career. Only heard of him after reading his name mentioned in this thread and then looked him up.

Growing up in Tasmania, there was no one better than Mark Ray opening the batting for us.
He almost put me off cricket, but thankfully he got dropped and my love for the game has never wavered.

Good to see Dalrymple mentioned, I was going to but didn't think he was good enough to get a shout. Was part of the squad that won the tri-series down under in 07 which all true cricket fans know was the big one that winter.
Very surprised to see he actually played that many games. I always grouped him with the random people who played a few times like Jeremy Snape and Alex Loudon.

If we are talking England limited overs spinners though it has to be Mike Yardy.

Yardy was definitely a guy.

That England T20 winning side also had the great guys opening partnership of Lumb and Kieswetter.

He actually did briefly go Kolpak. But only lasted a season and never played professionally again.
Although they look nothing like each other, my vague memories of Friend have become completely intertwined with those of Andy Blignaut.

More or less exactly the same player; both rapid but wayward and both able to bat a bit.

Praveen Kumar.

Notable for being (arguably) the last genuine medium pacer (don't think I ever saw him ever get near 80mph, and was generally around 71-74mph) to play tests, having a six match test career that lasted less than 2 months in total, looking a good decade older than he was supposed to be (think he was nominally 24 when India toured up here in 2011, but realistically looked closer to 40), hooping it both ways absolutely miles and getting onto the honours board at Lords with his only 5-for.
DIsappointed Ramesh Powar didn’t he get a nod

Now best known for being a sports psychologist and for banging Pippa Middleton, respectively.

Think we all know who's winning the "post cricket career" there...

Huge fan of the wee, tubby little fella, obvz, but SCC did doff the cap his way, tbf:

I might get a lot of flak for this pick, but Ramesh Powar. That lovely off spinner's action: flight and drift. He inspired 2016 Under-19 Player of the Tournament, Mehedy Hasan Miraz, who copied/modeled his bowling action after Powar.

This thread has run out of cricketers. Michael Parkinson and Julian Assange didn’t play for England but could have bearing in mind that Derek Pringle did.
