2nd Test at the MCG, Melbourne, 26 Dec - 30 Dec 2020

That graphic they showed of visiting seamers records in Australia is a good advertisement of why you don't take the numbers like averages at face value. Steyn averages 28 but he has been the biggest matchwinner there so far and I would wager the 28 average is as much due to higher scores overall in the series but I am sure someone would use that as some kind of proof that Bumrah >> Steyn or something equally idiotic.

Steyn, WAFG.
Are they using an Australian broadcast in the subcontinent? I thought they ran their own broadcast with an Indian commentary team and production?

If you're having to suffer Warney, Huss and AB stating the obvious (they'd love to get a wicket here) and being insufferably matey, matey mates (oh ho ho ho!), I suppose it's only fair it's not just us.

reckon drs would have lowered some batting averages in the 00s? we've seen how many more dismissals are out thanks to it.

Lol wtf? Are you suggesting humans are more accurate? Then why why would we even use ball tracking, like at all?
We only use ball tracking because DRS exists, and because Hawkeye is a better alternative to replaying the broadcast footage with three lines drawn from the stumps down the pitch like they used to in the 1990s.

Think we need to give it to India here. The ignominy of the 36 will be replaced with the triumph of their fight back. Well done india and Daemon

Australia need to take a good hard look at themselves. This could have been the reality for them for the past seven years had steve smith not existed

Australia lost this game when they backed up a ridiculously bad batting effort with an even worse catching effort.

Umpires should just be a little less reluctant to give lbws in general I suppose. Umpires call is useful but if there's one thing Hawkeye has proved its that umpires have been historically very kind to batsmen. That mindset will change slowly, no need to do DnD style dice rolls. ffs spark.
The problem is you're having two different games happening - games with DRS and games without. Umpires for Test cricket come through without DRS and therefore give less LBWs (as they should). Maybe after an extended run umpiring at International level they'll be a bit less hesitant, but their replacements will encounter the same issues

I mean if you're gong you rely on your bowlers to win the match for you, you at least need to hold the catches they give you.

Can we talk about over rates. It's far more stimulating than this multi page drivel about the philosophy of the DRS.

aussies wont win another game this series. test no.1 was a fluke courtesy to indian selectors(stuff up selection with prithvi instead of gill, no siraj, no pant, & no jadeja available). aussies have easily the worst batting lineup in the world of all the major teams now. Just a very mediocre batting lineup. Aussies need to bring in pattinson for test no.3 and rest one of the bowlers(not cummins).
