i mean... if the bar is performances against australia...
Isn't it always? Centre of the cricketing world since test #1.

Anderson has taken 450 wickets in the low 20's over the past 10 years.
Yeah but two things count against him. 1) he's English and 2) he's English. I know that's technically the same thing but it's such an important point that it was worth mentioning twice.

i mean, sound doesn't travel backwards in time. if a sound has appeared before the ball has reached the bat, then...
It depends on what the "zero" reference point of the waveform on screen is. If it's the centre or the left end (which is how waveforms are often displayed on oscilloscopes or graphs) then the spike appearing on the right side before the ball passes the bat shouldn't matter.

i had always assumed that the reference point was the left edge, anchored on the previous frame, and the waveform represents all sounds received in the interval between the two frames. happy to be corrected if wrong though, i'm not aware of anything that says it's presented in the same manner as a standard oscilloscope.

Fair, but I'm basically answering the question "Who will do better in a great pace attack with Cummins and Steyn already there" - and Rabada gets the nod over Anderson for that
okay but then you're no longer really picking a team of the decade imo. otherwise you'd pick bumrah over either.

I don't know either, just saying that could be a reason. The sampling rate of audio will be much higher than video so you will see instances of audio show up for events missing in video.

Yeah if warner is fit drop head, move wade down to 5, head is useless. Wade is more naturally aggressive and can bat with the tail, put him at 6 and move green to 5. Tell the kid that he's not gonna get dropped straight away so he can play with some freedom.

Recalling khawaja/smarsh for burns could also be a decent idea. Anyone is better than him atm.

Why are they talking about Smith, who is obviously woefully out of form and not talk about the lack of intent from every other Australian batsmen? Green has been in immense form in the shield, hits the Australian side and can't get it off the square. Wade has looked in good nick and has a top score of 40. Burns scored a 50 and three single digit scores. Head still has the same technical issues he's always had and now they're being exploited.

Smith is not the problem with this side. The batting coaching is the problem. The batsmen are going out into the middle with massive technical flaws, are being told to "grind it out" and are hitting a dozen runs at a strike rate in the 30s.

Being bundled out for less than 200 in two successive innings at the ****ing MCG is unacceptable for any Australian side ever. No excuses. It's time to find a new coach.
