I've said this before, but I think subs are less necessary in Cricket than they are in other team sports. It's only necessary in fielding, but in batting and bowling the impact of losing a player varies depending on player and match circumstances.

Concussion subs are good to protect the long term health of our athletes, but if there was a way to get them to stop playing the match without a sub -the way we treat getting a broken arm for example- then that would be ideal for me too.

Or maybe move towards allowing subs for all game ending injuries. Idk. I understand the reason behind the current rules but i do find subs in Test cricket weird and the inconsistency between a sever external injury and a concussion can't be maintained forever.
it's actually not necessary for fielding at all. if anything, it's extremely strange that a player can suffer a broken arm and not be replaced, but a player can go off for a shower and be replaced in the field

Test cricket will get better the day it embraces subs for everything. Not just injuries.

How long ago was this?
this was during the 2011 India tour of England. I know for a fact a certain commentator who should have known better even at the time was doing the "oh it's just a headache" rubbish

Warne talking about Green’s hard hands, then they show four replays while he’s talking which demonstrate he actually didn’t play with hard hands at all last over

Lots of respect to Green's technique. Looks like a more technically correct batsman than anyone else in the top 6.

Warne's "get on with it" count was in the double digits that day for sure

hang on hang on hang on. I've just seen these rubbish posts

Do you literally not recall the time Gautam Gambhir got concussed and was basically forced to come out to bat at 8, and was made out to be the bad guy because he didn't come out to open? You need subs because people who suffer a traumatic brain injury should not play until they recover, and players will refuse to cooperate with the medical team unless they know they're not letting the team down. what a pile of **** this is.
there should be strict rules against players carrying on after concussion injuries.. doesn't mean you add more batsmen or bowlers.

Yeah I think you could have an independent doctor for each match. If you display concussion symptoms the player is out But no actual replacement apart from the 12th man fielding

On the concussion sub side of things, I think it's very strange that players concussion replacements are not declared at the toss. Like, when the team sheet is submitted, their possible replacements should be submitted too: Burns, Wade, Smith etc with Harris, Green with Henriques, Starc with (x), Lyon with (x)

helps prevent exploitation

The player themselves are a part of diagnosis. They can lie if they want to and you wouldn't know they are concussed. It's not rocket science.

But you can't have strict rules without player player cooperate, and they won't cooperate if subs are removed

Yeah this was brought up during the hamstring injury, not sure why it isn’t in practice yet.
